19th Fashion Design Conference IAC

Initiatives in Art & Culture (IAC) announced the agenda for its roster of presenters at its 19th Annual Fashion + Design Conference, entitled “White: Palette, Prism, Possibility,” taking place November 10 & 11, 2017. The event also will feature a reception at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 10, at the Shinola Flagship in Tribeca (177 Franklin St.) with remarks by Shinola President Jacques Panis.
“A central visual and cultural communicator, color is an incredibly important element in creative industries, both from an aesthetic standpoint and when we examine the associated deeper meanings,” said Lisa Koenigsberg, Founder, IAC. “In this conference, the color white is examined as a powerful statement of purity and tradition, and as a catalyst for change—a color of origins, of new beginnings, and of hope. We believe this hope and the notion of new beginnings is manifest through design and is a driving force throughout the world.”
The conference will feature presentations on design innovation, color theory, advancements in materials technology, fashion history, fashion photography, diversity on the runway and broadened conceptions of beauty, updates on the jewelry industry, an extensive review of the state of the bridal industry, and business advice, strategies, and solutions from leading authorities and industry experts.

He then learned how to hand sew from his grandmother and eventually began taking classes to perfect his technique. Growing up in the age of YouTube, Matt started his own channel which features makeup tutorials and fashion tips and advice, which is watched by thousands of budding fashionistas looking for a little help and inspiration. This caught the attention of producers for "Project Runway: Threads," which aired in 2014. A huge focus of this convention was on how the beauty industry is changing and how to keep your business thriving in today’s world. It all starts with the salon team. Your typical stylist is not what (s)he used to be. As salon owners, we need to accept the fact that the new generation of hair dressers brings with it new ideas, expectations, needs, and knowledge. The industry is constantly changing, and with that, the idea of “this is how we do things because this is how they’ve always been done” is an impossible concept. Today’s hair dresser may not want to work a “typical” Tuesday-Saturday schedule, do in-salon training, or offer all services. Today’s hair dresser may want to focus on specializing in certain services, work better with a flexible schedule, and most likely thrive on positive feedback and Instagram likes. If you don’t go with the flow, another salon owner will, or that stylist will find a suite or rental that will provide that freedom.
