2013 CMT Music Awards Fashion

This year’s CMT Music Awards have been announced, as have the hosts, Kristen Bell and Jason Aldean and most recently, the nominees listed below.

Thanks to a new uprising of cool, country stars, the genre of music often transcends just country music and today is widely known among mainstream media to become a permanent fixture in pop culture. The sassy ladies of country (Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, to name a few) are even raising the bar of fashion and style, as are the “bad boys” of country (Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, to name a few). Hunter Hayes recently caught the eye of Esquire magazine, confirming the fact that this is no longer your mama’s country. New country artists are trendsetters and influencers and combined with their southern swagger, they’ve successfully launched a brand new kind of country.

We are extremely excited to see the fashion of this year’s CMT Music Awards.

Something else to consider when think about the CMT Music Awards, is the ever-increasing popularity of the country music genre.  We’re at the point, for example, where every season on mainstream reality television competition shows like “American Idol, “ the “Voice,” and even “X Factor” you can expect a healthy showing of country auditioners and collectively the shows have had several winners from the country genre. “Voice” alum and last year’s winner, Cassadee Pope, who based on her success on the show, recently converted from punk pop to to country, will have a prominent presence at this year’s awards show. She will be hosting our Twitter lounge and cameras will be following her around as she is currently in production for her upcoming series to debut on CMT, “The Cassadee Pope Project.” Country music is undoubtedly considered more mainstream than ever before with widespread international appeal. Research tells us that nearly 100 million Americans are country music enthusiasts and the genre has proven to be timeless and ever-powerful in creating strong and lasting connections between our artists and the fans. And the country music consumer is no longer who you think they are – they are tech savvy -- evident by the fact that last year’s show saw its highest online engagement ever via Facebook and Twitter. The country music fan has spending power and because of this, they are a passionate group of consumers who connect with the artists and the music, and the universal themes they represent. And the passion for country extends beyond our domestic borders. Country artists are expanding outside the US with more tours overseas, selling out venues all over the world.

The party for the 2013 CMT MUSIC AWARDS is underway as Eric Church, Luke Bryan and Miranda Lambert lead the nominations, each picking up four for this year’s live show.
