Alberta Ferretti
takes an active part in the Born Free initiative by designing two exclusive
pieces for the Born Free Collection. This project brings together 22 leading,
international female designers and models fighting together to end
mother-to-child HIV transmission by December 31, 2015.
These designers and
models, but most importantly, mothers, created two looks: one for mother, one
for child, based on specially designed prints by Kenyan artist Wngenchi Mutu.
The collection will be sold exclusively on ShopBop.com starting today, April 23,
2014, with most pieces retailing under $250, and all profits benefiting the
Born Free Foundation Mission.
"As a designer,
mother and woman I am both happy and touched to be part of such a beautiful
initiative. By joining hopes and forces with other women, I hope we reach our
common goal to fight HIV, especially as this research could benefit future
generations” states Alberta Ferretti.
On Mother's Day,
May 11, 2014, a kick-off event for families will be held in New York City's Pier
45, sponsored by Amazon Fashion, featuring a number of participating
collaborators and designers, as well as live entertainment and attractions from
leading athletes, authors, artists, chefs and musicians.
