Lauren Bacall Fashion Icon Passes

Lauren Bacall died Tuesday August 12, 2014 at the age of 89 in New York, according to the managing partner of the Humphrey Bogart Estate, Robbert J.F. de Klerk. Bacall's son Stephen Bogart confirmed his mother's death to de Klerk. She was pronounced dead at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center at 5:21 p.m. Tuesday, according to Kathleen Robinson, the hospital's media relations director.

Lauren was an icon from the moment she hit the silver screen.  Before moving to Hollywood at the age of 19, she had been a fashion model and part time actress in New York.  She had a lanky figure, flowing blond hair and a stunning face.  As a young woman, Diana Vreeland, the famed editor of Harper's Bazaar, thought she was ideal for fashion modeling, and Bacall appeared regularly in the magazine.

Lauren Bacall appeared in movies for more than a half century.  She was stylish and classy in her garment selection.  Often watched by the fashion elite.

The fashion industry will greatly miss the fashion icon, Lauren Bacall.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Lauren's family and friends.
