LA Men's Market October 2014
The presence of Los Angeles Men’s Market (LAMM) was apparent before entering the California Market Center as new signage and a palpable buzz filled the area surrounding 9th and Main in Downtown LA. Once inside the building, attendees were kindly greeted and clearly directed to AREA4 where the top brands from the Lifestyle, Contemporary, Footwear, Streetwear & Fashion spaces were well prepared with their Summer ‘15 offerings displayed.
The hand selected (120+) brands were carefully divided among showrooms on the floor based on shared common grounds, allowing buyers to either conveniently see each brand based on a specific category or discover a complimentary brand they had not yet bought into. PasSun’s Marketing Manager for Brands, Dani Concepcion, spoke highly of the show saying, “It was a great curation of brands and a fantastic place to view the newest trends from existing to upcoming brands.”
Brands like Obey, Brixton, Nixon, Girl & Publish were paired with Asics, 10 Deep & Jason Markk in rooms alongside the permanent showrooms of Noble Gentleman (Rains, Barney Cools & Zanerobe) & The NTWRK (Herschel, Komono, Native & Brothers Marshall) to increase the overall viability of Downtown Los Angeles as a place to congregate and do business.
The first day boomed with a 30% increase in attendance compared to last year’s Show. Key retailers included Revolve, Active, American Rag, Boarders, Kingswell, Zebraclub, Zumiez, NO Season, Selfridges, Voyager, Milk Made, Stade Co, PacSun, Surfstitch, Tillys, Xtreme Boardshop, Seed Peoples Market, Fred Segal, Hemingway & Pickett, Kitson and many more. Buyers enjoyed the amenities and attended meetings with their top brands.
“It’s a one-stop shop for all things relevant in men’s apparel,” said James Hammonds who buys from 10 Deep, Asics, Blvck Scvle, ourCASTE, Publish & many other LAMM attendees for Revolve Clothing. Day one ended with an over-capacity opening night event at The Standard, Downtown Los Angeles and transitioned smoothly into day two where buyers were quickly rejuvenated by Eggslut, Juice Served Here, Boxed Water and Stumptown Coffee.
“This season’s LA Men’s Market was an overwhelming success on all levels,” said Kellen Roland (founder of LAMM), “the show has established itself as a must attend and exhibit event on the show calendar by elevating the status of Los Angeles within the existing marketplace.” In short, mark your calendar now as the next show is rapidly approaching and they look forward to seeing you again in April of 2015.
