By using printed electronics, design options abound. Now fashion designers have new options to
explore and display their creativity. As
we all know, wearable
technology is an exciting new venue for fashion designers. Printed electronics offer designers a wide
variety of options and attractive economics, helping to put electronics
everywhere.
DuPont offers a wide variety of conductive inks for
printed electronics applications. Their
products are formulated to meet the performance demands of many different
applications, including sensors, antennas, biosensors, touch screens, touch
switches, and printed heaters.
DuPont offers a complete suite of functional, stretchable
electronic ink materials for smart clothing and other wearable electronics.
DuPont
stretchable electronic inks provide an elegant, manufacturing-ready
alternative to previous methods of embedding electronics in clothing. The end result is a thin, form-fitting
circuit that can be seamlessly fused with standard fabrics, allowing for
unprecedented comfort and freedom in wearable electronics design.
DuPont stretchable inks for wearable electronics are
designed to deliver stable performance despite repeated elongation. Smart clothing enabled by DuPont inks is
washable and durable – it can withstand up to 100 wash cycles. These materials can be used in common
manufacturing processes to manufacture smart clothing without significant
investment.
DuPont will offer a full material suite of conductors,
encapsulants, and sensors for wearable electronics, initially including:
·
DuPont PE872 stretchable
conductor, which is washable with encapsulation
·
DuPont PE772 stretchable,
washable dielectric encapsulant
DuPont’s
printed electronic materials include a selection of conductive silver,
carbon, and silver chloride inks, formulated to strike the right balance
between performance and cost. By
combining these conductors with other printed electronic elements including
dielectric inks, they offer the ability to form conductive traces, capacitors,
and resistors.
DuPont conductive ink technologies are compatible with many
substrate surfaces including polyester, glass, and ceramics, and can be applied
using screen printing as well as a variety of other processes.
They are helping the fashion industry make smart clothing
which is easier to design, manufacturer, wash and wear.
