The award-winning, eco-friendly cult brand SheaMoisture acted
as the official hair sponsor of the Tracy Reese Fall/Winter 2015 Collection
at New York Fashion Week Sunday, February 15th, 2015. Alongside lead
editorial and fashion hairstylist Bok-Hee, SheaMoisture created a stunning
high-fashion runway look to complement Tracy's fashion-forward
collection.
Reese, a CFDA member since 1990, debuted her ultra-modern
collection to a packed house at ArtBeam Studios during New York Fashion Week.
Tracy
Reese is an American designer whose signature rich, daring colors and unique
prints are crafted into joyful, feminine pieces for the modern woman. Tracy
Reese's design philosophy is rooted in a commitment to bringing out the beauty
in women of all shapes, sizes and colors. Stimulated by the world around her,
Tracy Reese takes inspiration from nature, art, dance, travel and global
cultures. Tracy Reese, plenty by Tracy Reese, and plenty DRESSES by Tracy Reese
are sold nationwide in top department stores and specialty boutiques as well as
retailers throughout Europe & Asia.
The linear, severe ponytail was one of the most dramatic
looks seen on the runway this season, complementing the new-age Monster
Headphones and urban warrior princess designs. "I wanted to challenge what was
expected when it came to the hair. The SheaMoisture Tahitian Noni & Monoi
Smooth & Repair and Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine collections gave
me the ability to create a look that had both shine and structure, plus was
versatile enough to work on all of the models' hair," shared lead stylist
Bok-Hee. The final creation was clean, strong and uniform, accentuating the
inspirational ideas of the designer and stylist alike.
"Fashion enhances a woman's inner beauty, which is our utmost
mission at SheaMoisture," says founder and CEO
Richelieu Dennis. "Combining forces with an innovative partner like Tracy, who
possesses such a passionate view of a woman's style and strength, is the perfect
fit for our brand because she understands our vision for a better way to
beautiful."
Inspired by the era of women's empowerment, Reese created a
collection for the confident woman who shows power through femininity. The
collection takes life from a graphic palette of Maasai reds, ebony blacks and
cassava whites with the added boldness of vibrant blues. Innovative prints,
inspired by traditional African motifs have been flattened and re-scaled to
craft fresh, modular shapes into contemporary patterns. There is a nod to 70's
tailoring and styles have been finished with macro zippers and chain detailing.
Luxe faux fur, fringe and beading also add rich texture.
Since 1912, SheaMoisture has made its award-winning,
shea-butter-based skin and hair care products using family recipes handed down
from founder and CEO Richelieu Dennis' grandmother Sofi Tucker, who as a young
mother, sold her shea butter creations to support her family in Sierra Leone.
Firmly committed to "A Better Way to Beautiful," SheaMoisture products are made
with natural and certified organic ingredients, not tested on animals and do not
contain parabens, sulfates, phthalates, paraffin, formaldehyde, mineral oil,
petroleum or DEA. SheaMoisture proudly ethically sources its shea butter from
seven co-ops in Northern Ghana.
