Announced August 17, 2015, QVC is paying $2.4 billion to buy internet retailer Zulily Inc.

QVC’s parent,  Liberty Interactive Corp. , said Monday that it would pay the equivalent of $18.75 a Zulily share, representing a 49% premium to Friday’s closing price of $12.57 a share.

Did Alibaba have good timing, good luck, or just the right amount of inside knowledge?  They certainly appear to have timed their stock purchase well.
