Global Brands and David Beckham

As reported on Bloomberg Business on August 11th, Global Brands has more than 350 brands that it owns, designs and licenses, including characters from blockbuster movies by Walt Disney Co. such as “Frozen.”  It also set up a joint venture to develop David Beckham-branded consumer products globally.

The Hong Kong-based company aims to reach $1.5 billion sales in five years for the venture with the former British soccer player and plans to sell his products across China, the U.S. and Europe.  Further development of the deal will be announced “soon,” Chief Executive Officer Bruce Rockowitz said in a recent interview.  You can see the interview at http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-08-12/global-brands-in-alliance-talks-with-alibaba-jd-com-ceo-says

Back in December 2014, the Financial Times reported, "High quality global journalism requires investment. David Beckham and Simon Fuller have signed a deal with Hong Kong-listed Global Brands Group to push brand Beckham into new products – and bring in other celebrities on similar terms.  Mr Beckham, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid footballer, and his long-term business partner and creator of American Idol, Mr Fuller, signed a 50-50 joint venture with GBG’s chief executive, Bruce Rockowitz."
