CONVICTS is an Australian influencer based digital platform with a flagship store in downtown Manhattan.  Founded by Pete Maiden and a crew of fellow Australians with support from the Australian Consulate-General, New York, CONVICTS launched September, 2015.

As Australian culture continues to permeate and influence New York City life, CONVICTS will showcase this growing influence through the brick and mortar store, the digital platform, e-commerce, in-store radio streaming and in-store events.

Convicts shares the irreverent Australian spirit through stories of the influencers who are taking risks and pioneering new territory. CONVICTS profiles artists, musicians, designers, and personalities redefining their fields. The content inspires by capturing an approach to life that reflects the editorial philosophy of conviction and rebellious spirit.

CONVICTS  flagship store is located at 219C Mulberry St, showcasing Australian brands and lifestyle. It is a multi-purpose location serving both downtown locals and travelers to a unique Australian Experience in the heart of New York City. The store space will play host to a variety of events and activations, including a live stream radio station to Bondi, Sydney. The store will showcase top emerging and iconic Australian brands including Ksubi, One Teaspoon, Zanerobe, Venroy, Blundstone and Volley.

The CONVICTS.NYC platform will publish original and exclusive daily videos, photography and interview profiles and provide a news and event feed for it’s audience. CONVICTS.NYC takes users on the path less travelled by integrating the ultimate insider MAP of NYC, featuring a list of carefully curated unique destinations endorsed by their community of influencers including Catherine McNeil, Jessica Hart, Britt Maren, Daniel Askill, Mimi Elashiry and more.

The Consulate’s support will help to leverage Convicts’ broad cultural and media program, with each initiative focussing on a particular area of Australian cultural export to the United States. The program will highlight the achievements of creative Australians living and working in New York City, and will build audiences for, and engagement with, Australian culture in one of the world’s great cities.
