Activewear & Lifestyle Tradeshow March 2016

ALT (Activewear & Lifestyle Tradeshow) debuted as a soft re-launch in conjunction with Los Angeles Fashion Market, March 14-16, 2016 at the CMC (California Market Center).  Formerly known as “Shape”, ALT was rebranded as downtown LA’s resource for West Coast-inspired Contemporary active and lifestyle brands.

Held in the CMC’s Penthouse event space, the newly rebranded ALT featured a tightly curated selection of 13 hand-picked exhibitors who have set the tone for the direction of resources buyers can expect to see from this show.  Resources included Contemporary activewear and yoga collections, accessories, swimwear, and basics collections appropriate for street or gym.  Brands included Nux Activewear, Jala Clothing, Sthenos Activewear, Bombshell Sportswear, Cantiq LA Handmade Intimate Apparel, Pheel, Joriki, Aimee M, Bodi Bodi, Mine Label, J.Lew Bags, and more.

Exhibitors emphasized the quality of buyers they met and  unexpected crossover traffic from TRANSIT Shoe Show and Coeur Accessories Show also held in the CMC’s Penthouse.  First-time exhibitor Kristine Miller Marks, Brand Manager for Sthenos Activewear and Bombshell Sportswear noted:  “We have had a really good show this week.  Honestly we didn't know who would show up or what to expect since the major markets just passed but to our surprise there was a good flow of quality buyers who have placed nice size opening orders which we all know leads to more business.  We will be back!”

ALT’s targeted retailer efforts brought in quality buyers from a relevant mix of fitness studios, resorts and spas, lifestyle boutiques, and fashion retailers looking for athleisure collections.  Visitors included A Tropical Affair Santa Barbara, Ambiance Stores, Avalon, Barre 3, Bhody, Brentwood Country Club, Burro, C.Jane, Catalina Gear, Clover, Emphatic - Fred Segal, Essenza Boutique, Fifty Six, Forever 21, Four Seasons Hotel Beverly Wilshire, Fresh Produce, Gypsy Den Boutique, Harmony Studios, Hip'tique, Island Farm, Island Outfitters, Jag Gym, Kaitlyn Clothing Inc, La Boutique, LF Stores, Luxe Lingerie, M. Fredric, Marshall Rousso / Marshall Retail Group, M'attias, Mission Inn Gift Shop, Mn8 Salon & Day Spa, Montage Laguna Beach, New Leaf Skin Care, Nordic Athletes, On Your Feet / Get It Together, Outdoor & Down, Peppermill Hotel Casino, Pink Lagoon, Renouveau, Salt Boutique, Seaside Luxe, Southwestern Yacht Club, Specialtees, Sports 4 U, St Francis Yacht Club, Storm Sports, Studio Den, Sunny Days Retail Inc., Terra Verde, The Beauty Shack, The Club, The Red Balloon, Tucson Racquet & Fitness Club, UCLA Medical Center, United Wear, Upstairs At Pierre Lafond, Verona, W Scottsdale, and Wynn Las Vegas, among many others.
"ALT is a great show that is both beneficial and easy to digest for up-and-coming brands. Their team has gone above and beyond to support my brand's development and success in the show," said Chelsea Hughes, Founder & Creative Director for returning exhibitor Cantiq LA.  "This is my third show [the first two exhibiting at “Shape”] and I’ve written some great orders and have made some great, new contacts. Additionally, I have seen a lot of traffic from their marketing that has filtered through to my website and various online platforms."

"The show was a great capsule sized look at what’s happening in the small athleisure business segment," noted Aimee Laurel of Business of Athleisure, who identified Nux Activewear, Pheel, and Uintah Collection as stand-out brands.

The next edition of ALT is slated for June 6-8, 2016 to run in conjunction with LA Fashion Market at the CMC.
