Fashion Website SEO Tips 2018

The more visitors to your fashion website the better.  This was important in 2017 and will be equally or more important in 2018.  Search engine optimization is one of the "many" issues modern day fashion businesses face.  The days of simply designing fabulous clothing is behind us.  It is critical to stay up to speed on the latest fashion trends, but you now must also keep a careful eye on online strategies as well.  This is where SEO tips come into play.  If you are not yet sure exactly what I am talking about you may want to first visit our Fashion SEO term.

Here are the Apparel Search SEO tips for 2018:



  1. Speed - keep your website fast.  Sorry, can't tell you exactly how to accomplish this goal, but website load speed is critically important.  You may want to check out AMP.  The AMP Project is an open-source initiative aiming to make the web better for all. The project enables the creation of websites and ads that are consistently fast, beautiful and high-performing across devices and distribution platforms. https://www.ampproject.org/
  2. Secure - HTTPS instead of HTTP.  HTTPS (also called HTTP over TLS, HTTP over SSL, and HTTP Secure) is a protocol for secure communication over a computer network which is widely used on the Internet.  If you don't know much about this topic, look it up online.  Apparently it is rather important.  Most definitely if you are selling clothing, footwear or fashion accessories online.
  3. Redirects - URL redirection, also called URL forwarding, is a World Wide Web technique for making a web page available under more than one URL address. When a web browser attempts to open a URL that has been redirected, a page with a different URL is opened.  Use proper redirects if your website page address is moved.  Learn the difference between 201 redirect, 301 redirects, etc.  The one you use is important.
  4. rel = canonical - yes, it sounds like an equation.  According to Google, "Use canonical URLs. This article describes how you can use canonical URLs to improve link and ranking signals for content available through multiple URL structures or via syndication.   5. Voice - no, this does not mean you should keep an eye on what the singers and celebrities are wearing when they appear on The Voice television show.  I am actually talking about "voice for search".  As you know more and more people browse the web for the latest fashion trends, etc. by using their mobile devices.  Computers and mobile devices often have voice-enabled search.  This appears to be a growing trend.  In 2018 and beyond, you may need to optimize your apparel website for voice search users.
