Naia Cellulosic Fiber for Womenswear Market

Eastman's cellulosic fiber, Naia, has officially been launched into the womenswear market.
Naia made its debut at Premiere Vision in Paris September 19 - 21, 2018.  Naia is a sustainably manufactured cellulosic yarn that is derived from renewable wood pulp, which is sourced exclusively from sustainably managed forests.  In addition to pursuing a new market for Naia, this year Eastman was awarded FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certification for adhering to the standards of responsible forestry.

Below are a few things that you should know about Naia:
  • Naia is made from fully traceable and sustainably sourced wood pulp
  • The cellulosic yarn is produced in a safe, closed-loop process where solvents are recycled back into the system for reuse
  • Naia has an optimized, low-impact manufacturing process with a low tree-to-yarn carbon and water footprint
  • Naia has a third party reviewed Life Cycle Assessment compliant with ISO14044 and is listed on the HIGG Materials Sustainability Index
  • Naia emits less green house gases, uses less fresh water in preparation and production, and has less negative impact of nature such as land use, eco-toxicity and water acidification than silk, cotton, viscose filament and polyester
  • Fabric made with Naia will have superior breathability and moisture management
  • Garments made from Naia are easy to care for, can be laundered at home, and have excellent wrinkle recovery and pilling resistance

Eastman will be the gold sponsor of the 2019 cycle of the Redress Design Competition. It is the world’s largest global fashion design competition focused on environmental sustainability and zero-waste in the fashion industry. For the womenswear category, the emerging designers and students will be using Naia™-based ‘waste’ fabrics to fit in with the competition’s strong focus on waste reduction. They will be able to build their collections from Naia™-based fabric samples, finished product samples, end-of-rolls, swatches and damaged fabrics. The finalists will incorporate Naia™-based fabrics into their runway collections for the Grand Final fashion show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in September 2019.

Learn more about Naia fiber.

By virtue of the hypoallergenic nature of the fiber, fabrics made of Naia™ from Eastman deliver ultimate next-to-skin comfort.

Comfort is one of the most important factors in clothing purchase decisions. In fact, nearly 3 out of 5 consumers around the world (58%) say comfort is a very important factor in their clothing purchase decision. However, less than half of global consumers (47%) say they are very satisfied with the comfortable of their clothing. The apparel industry has a significant opportunity to close this comfort satisfaction gap by adopting more inherently comfortable fibers such as Naia™ from Eastman.

Thanks to an inherent softness, high breathability, and incredibly efficient moisture management, your next collection of garments made from Naia cellulosic yarn will leave your customers with a smooth, soft, and cool feeling.
