Happenings Not to Miss at MAGIC's August 2015 Show

MAGIC is almost upon us.  On August 17th to 19th , the industry powerhouse for driving commerce, creating connections and cultivating discovery, will showcase the latest in apparel, footwear and accessories from both established and emerging brands.

Here a only a few of the many highlights that the show will have to offer the apparel industry.

CELEBRITIES HEAD TO SIN CITY

Meet actress, singer and rising shoe designer, Zendaya as she debuts her brand new shoe collection, Daya, at FN PLATFORM. VIP Meet and greet is by invitation only – Monday, August 17th from 4pm to 6pm, Booth #80324 at FN PLATFORM.

Join FN PLATFORM for an exciting opening night with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy! The opening night performance will take place from 6pm to 7pm on Monday, August 17th in the FN café.

Meet with Nicole Snooki’ Polizzi as she debuts her newest collection for SnookiLove by Double Zero in Juniors. Tuesday, August 18th at 12pm, Booth #72801 at WWDMAGIC.


WWDMAGIC’s 20th ANNIVERSARY WITH RAPPER, JUICY J

WWDMAGIC celebrates its 20-year partnership with WWD. In honor of the anniversary, WWDMAGIC will host a private party on Monday, August 17th at Marquee in the Cosmopolitan, featuring a special performance by rapper, Juicy J.

CELEBRATE THE BIG AND SMALL SCREEN WITH HOLLYWOOD COSTUME DESIGNERS

Ever wonder what goes into creating the characters of your favorite shows and movies? Some of Hollywood’s biggest costume designers will be on-site to discuss what it takes to create a superhero and how to keep young Hollywood’s style and voice fresh! We’ll have Ann Foley (MARVEL’s AGENTS of S.H.I.E.L.D), Michael Wilkinson (American Hustle/ Batman vs. Superman), Meredith Markworth- Pollack (Reign), Staci Greenbaum (Broad City) and Christine Bean (Blacklist) to lead the conversation on all things design.

To learn what goes into creating a superhero, join us on Sunday, August 16th at 1:30pm in the SOURCING Community Lounge. To learn about the influence and inspiration behind young Hollywood, stop by the SOURCING Community Lounge on Monday, August 17th at 11am.

TALK TRENDS AT WWD SOCIAL HOUSE

Christopher Kim, Market Editor of Yahoo! Style and Alex Badia, Fashion Editor of WWD will be on-site for: WWD SOCIAL HOUSE -  “He Said/He Said” - a conversation between Christopher Kim, Market Editor, Yahoo! Style and Alex Badia, Fashion Editor, WWD/Fashion Director, M MAGAZINE.

MAKING MOVES

Make note of a few show changes:

SOURCING at MAGIC has moved from South Hall to the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Footwear in SOURCING remains in South Hall.

WSA@MAGIC has moved from North Hall to South Hall, sitting directly above FN PLATFORM, allowing for easy access to branded footwear.

CURVENV@MAGIC, the lingerie and swim show, has been added to the roster of August shows taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center inside Central Hall.

GET TECHY

Wearable tech has been all the buzz and now MAGIC attendees can learn more about this booming industry at SOURCING at MAGIC. Several panels will be held over the course of 3-days to highlight the newest advances, educate attendees on where the industry is headed and offer an interactive glimpse at some of the industry’s newest technologies!

The Buzz Boutique is back again! The area will showcase new apps, marketing solutions and social media trends relevant to the business of fashion today. Impromptu workshops will be held daily for exhibitors and attendees to learn more about innovative products that can help advance their businesses.

WELCOME NEW BRANDS

MAGIC is home to launching some of the world’s most well-known brands and this year will be no different. A few highly anticipated launches include:

Renowned blogger, Emily Schuman, will launch her Cupcakes and Cashmere Collection, at WWDMAGIC on The Concourse. Emily herself will be on-site to do a meet & greet on Monday, August 17th as well as a Q&A in the WWD Social House.

17-year-old fashion prodigy, Madison Nicole Robinson, will debut her newest collection for FishFlops in partnership with BBC International. The young designer will be on-site to introduce the latest styles on Monday, August 17th and Tuesday, August 18th in FN PLATFORM, Booth #80354.

Molly Bracken comes stateside! The famed contemporary European brand will launch its collections for the first time in the United States inside WWDMAGIC.

Mandy Chang, USA, winner of the Independent Handbag Designer Awards (IHDA), will debut her collection for the first time in the Accessories section of WWDMAGIC.

DAILY HAPPENINGS

Enjoy the below daily events taking place at LVCC:

Pamper yourself with GlamSquad at WSA@MAGIC. The team of on-site stylists will offer complimentary 10-minute hair touchups/blow outs or 10-minute make-up refreshes on the WSA@MAGIC show floor, each day of the show.

Get snapped at Footwear News’s special photo booth in honor of their 70th Anniversary. The booth will be at the entrance of FN PLATFORM; photos will be instantly emailed to users to share on social media and printed to take home.

 ONES TO WATCH

Enjoy a little friendly competition with American Express’s Ones to Watch® platform, which highlights up-and-coming designers in the contemporary fashion industry.  Three designers compete over three days inside the OPEN booth at MAGIC to create the best handbag from sketch to finished product.

Check out the Emerging Designer Showcase in Central Hall featuring fashion’s rising stars. Designers will showcase their upcoming collections for a chance to win the Crème de la Crème contest, featuring a free trip to Paris and a chance to meet with the buyers of Galleries Lafayette!
