“Contestants continue to create gowns that go beyond all our expectations,” Said Laura Gawne. Susan Bain added, “Choosing winners gets tougher each year!”

Laura Gawne and partner Susan Bain who operate Cheap Chic’s website dedicated to saving money on weddings, base the contest on the popular bridal shower game. For thirteen years in a row, they have asked their readers to create wedding gowns using toilet paper, tape and/or glue. Entrants were allowed to sew as well. Designers used between 12 and 49 rolls of Quilted Northern’s Ultra Plush and Ultra Soft and Strong.

The Thirteenth Annual Cheap Chic Weddings “Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest” was presented by both Cheap Chic Weddings and Quilted Northern®.

Celebrity judge Mikie Russo, Lifestyle Expert, TV Host and Celebrity Wedding and Party Planner, helped with the final judging which took place at Peerspace venue Loft 29 in Manhattan. Quilted Northern’s Brian Rice was on hand as VIP Judge to add his design expertise. VIP judges Mara Urshel, co-owner of Kleinfeld Bridal and Edward Meyer of Ripley’s Believe it or Not also helped with the difficult task of choosing winners.

Dresses were judged on Creativity, Originality, Beauty, Workmanship and the use of Toilet Paper.
