Fabrics Made from Coffee Skin

Textile companies in Colombia are stepping up their game when it comes to sportswear - and it's driving significant demand in the market.  In fact, between May 2012 and December 2014, 434 new products were exported to the U.S. from Colombia, of which 12 percent were from the clothing sector.

Lafayette, for example, is creating innovative fabrics in order to compete at the global level. The company is developing fabrics made from coffee skin that naturally provides UPF, odor protection and moisture control. These materials are being used for specific market segments including sportswear, uniforms and military wear.
