In the USA, New York is a primary fashion industry hub.  In addition to having manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing businesses, the industry in NY has many service sector jobs as well.

One of the important service components of the apparel industry is in regard to design.  It is not uncommon for emerging designers or large international brands to be in need of assistance from artists.   Sometimes clothing companies utilize their own studios, but sometimes they need additional assistance from freelance artists or 3rd party design studios.  When illustrations or other artistic services are needed, the industry turns to fashion design studios to find appropriate resources.

Below are a few examples of design studios in New York.  Some offer services to the industry, and some design simply for their own product.
