California Cowboy Men's Shirts

California Cowboy, the brand built upon the rebellious, free thinking "Cowboy" lifestyle of California natives has teamed up with leading online men's retailer,  Huckberry for a digital pop up shopping event starting 5/30/17 through 6/6/17.
California Cowboy Clothes
Just in time for summer and pool party season, the California Cowboy High Water shirt is everything we always knew the Aloha Shirt would be and more. No billowy fits here, just a meticulously tailored, incredibly soft terry-lined shirt hand sewn in Santa Ana, California and splashed with unique patterns printed from original hand-painted art. Because just making the smoothest short sleeve we've seen in years would be boring, the SF-based Cowboys have hidden enough features in this summer's silver bullet to make James Bond blush: A waterproof dry pocket, secure sunglasses loop, an interior pocket for when you're wearing it as an overshirt - even a dump pocket on the back for your beverage of choice. Like its namesake Hunter S. Thompson, the biggest Hawaiian shirt fanatic of all time, The High Water is a little out of control - and we like it. Members of Huckberry will receive 10% off the California Cowboy High Water ($114.99, https://huckberry.com)

Bonobos Men’s Fashion

Bonobos designs, markets and sells multiple categories of men’s apparel for casual, business and formalwear occasions.  If you enjoy men’s fashion, you will enjoy shopping at Bonobos.
Bonobos Online Men’s Fashion

Bonobos launched with pants and carries a wide selection of styles and fabrications such as denim, washed chino, wool, and corduroy.  Today Bonobos’ categories include pants along with casual and dress shirts, suits and blazers, tees, knits, polos, outerwear, shorts, swim, ties, pocket squares and belts.

They started Bonobos because the founders couldn't find pants that fit.  They were either way too tight or too boxy.   Fortunately, they figured out a way to fix the issue.

One secret (maybe not so secret now) is their signature curved waistband.  It actually conforms to the natural shape of your waist.  Another not so secret is a trimmer, more flattering cut and the perfect medium rise are the finishing touches on their great fit.

The signature curved waistband matches the natural shape of your waist.  No more bunched waistbands or baggy seats.  Traditionally, European cuts have a rise that's too high, and American cuts hang down too low.  Their rise is right in the middle and just right for the majority of men.   Most pants out there have a lot more fabric than guys really need.  Bonobos cut their pants for a fit that's trim but still accommodating.

After that had the fit of pants all figured out, they now have expanded beyond pants to shirts and suits.

Bonobos set out to build the best online shopping experience in the world, and they made it the core of what they do.

Bonobos is an e-commerce-driven apparel company headquartered in New York City that designs and sells men’s clothing.   Bonobos offers a full line of pants, suits, denim, shirts, shorts, swim and outerwear.  The company was founded by Stanford Business School housemates Andy Dunn and Brian Spaly, and launched exclusively online in 2007.  In 2012, Bonobos' business model extended offline with the launch of their e-commerce stores called “Guideshops” and through a partnership with Nordstrom.

Bonobos was named “One of America’s Hottest Brands” by Advertising Age, “Best Men’s Pants” by New York Magazine, one of Inc. Magazine’s “20 Awesome Facebook Pages”, and was awarded Crain’s New York Business “Best Places to Work in New York City”.

In 2012, Bonobos closed a $16.4 million strategic minority investment round led by Nordstrom, with participation from existing investors. In tandem, Bonobos partnered with Nordstrom to sell the brand’s clothing in their full-line stores and their website. Bonobos furthered its offline reach in May 2012, opening its first standalone Guideshop in Boston. By January 2013, Bonobos had opened additional Guideshops in Chicago,Georgetown and San Francisco.

Bonobos announced a $30 million round in 2013, with Glynn Capital and Mousse Partners joining existing investors Accel Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Forerunner Ventures and Nordstrom. At this time, Forerunner’s Managing Partner Kirsten Green joined the Bonobos board and total funding to date reached nearly $73 million.  Simultaneously, the company launched the golf brand Maide, which is the second brand launched by the Bonobos team. By August 2013, Bonobos had opened Guideshops on Crosby Street in New York City, Bethesda, MD, and Austin, TX, bringing Guideshop total count to eight. By August 2013 employee headcount reached 175.

As if all those accomplishments were not enough, they have now reached new heights by being mentioned here on the Apparel Search fashion blog.  Lucky them.

About Men's Underwear

What is that under your pants?

Men's underwear is important for holding a mans you know what in place and covering his rear end.

Under garments come in various colors, shapes, and sizes.  Pardon the pun, but below is a "brief" introduction to the clothing guys wear under their pants.

Brief
2Xist
Briefs This classic cut fits close to the body and offers comfort and just the right amount of coverage. Briefs were first sold on January 19, 1935 by Coopers, Inc., in Chicago, Illinois at Marshall Field's department store. They dubbed the new undergarment the "Jockey" because it offered a similar degree of support as the jockstrap (one style of which is also called jock brief or support briefs). The designer of the new style was reportedly inspired by a postcard he had received from a friend visiting the French Riviera depicting a man in a very short, form-fitting bathing suit.  In North America, "Jockey shorts" or "Jockeys" became an often used generic term for men's briefs. More recently, "tighty-whiteys" has become a commonly used nickname for briefs.  In the case of men's underwear, briefs, unlike boxer shorts, hold the wearer's (you know what) in a relatively fixed position, which make briefs a popular underwear choice for men who are participating in athletic activities or who feel they need more support than loose-fitting underwear can provide.  Athletes may prefer briefs over because boxers often ride up the body when the wearer is running.

Boxers
Boxer shorts (also known as simply boxers) are a type of undergarment typically worn by men. The term has been used in English since 1944 for all-around-elastic shorts, so named after the shorts worn by boxers, for whom unhindered leg movement ("footwork") is very important.  Most boxer shorts have a fly in front. Boxer shorts manufacturers have a couple of methods of closing the fly: metal snaps or a button or two. However, many boxer shorts on the market do not need a fastening mechanism to close up the fly as the fabric is cut and the shorts are designed to sufficiently overlap and fully cover the opening. This is commonly known as an open fly design.  Boxer shorts are available in white and solid colors including pastels, and come in a variety of patterns and prints as well; Traditional patterns include "geometrics" (small repeating geometric designs), plaids and vertical stripes. Additionally, there are innumerable "novelty" boxer short patterns. Boxer shorts are produced using various fabrics including all cotton, cotton/polyester blends, jersey knits and silk.

Boxer Brief
Polo Boxer Brief
Boxer Briefs boxer briefs offer length with fit that’s a little roomier than trunks, but not as roomy as boxer shorts.  Boxer briefs are sort of a hybrid between briefs and boxers.  They offer more coverage than briefs and offer more support than boxers.  Boxer briefs (or tight boxers) are a hybrid type of men's undergarment which are long in the leg, like boxer shorts but tighter-fitting, like briefs. Depending on the manufacturer, boxer briefs may also be spelled as one word: boxerbriefs. They are sometimes called "trunks" in the United Kingdom and Australia.  It is rumored that boxer briefs were pioneered by designer John Varvatos during his 1990–1995 stint at Calvin Klein as head of menswear design.  However, we are not certain that he created the first pair.  While some may find regular briefs too restrictive, others may find boxer shorts too loose. A pouch or "over sized" pouch may be built in to add space and position the the your know what with more room. Boxer briefs are commonly used in athletics instead of, or in addition to a jockstrap, but are common for everyday usage as well. The boxer brief design provides form-fitting coverage for the midsection from the waist to the thighs and are worn on the waist. They are usually made of a combination of cotton and spandex or a soft, woven flannel material. Boxer brief designs can have either a keyhole fly, button (snap) front, pouch, or no fly at all. The waistband is usually a separate band of elastic material, often in a contrasting color to the cotton or flannel material that comprises the rest of the boxer briefs.

Yes, men also wear bikini underwear, g-strings, and thongs.

If you are interested in shopping for men's underwear you can find men's underwear stores in the fashion retailer section here on Apparel Search.

When purchasing underwear, keep in mind the fabrication.  Woven fabric does not offer as much stretch as knit fabrics.

You may want to also check the men's underwear store that we created using product from Amazon.

You can shop for men's underwear at stores such as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and even Walmart.

Today, there are many options in underwear available to men. These include:
  • boxer style (at or near true waist, leg sections extending to thighs)
    • woven boxers (traditional)
    • knit boxers (like traditional but with more fabric give; knit has stretch)
    • boxer briefs (also knit; more form-fitting)
    • pouch boxer briefs (boxer briefs but with pouch for the wearers balls rather than access flap)
    • athletic-style (skin-tight, usually with no access pouch or flap; like short tights; a variety also is bike shorts)
  • jockey shorts or brief (knit fabric, with access pouch or flap; usually at or near true waist, leg bands at tops of thighs)
    • traditional jockey shorts (vertical flap)
    • diagonal flap jockey shorts
    • pouch jockey shorts
    • low-cut jockey shorts
  • bikini briefs (usually lower than true waist, often at hips, usually no access pouch or flap, legs bands at tops of thighs)
    • high-side bikini briefs
    • low-side bikini briefs
    • string bikini briefs (the front and rear sections meet in the crotch but not at the waistband, with no fabric on the side of the legs)
  • g-string types (with a front pouch for the private parts but no rear coverage)
    • thongs (with a strap securing the pouch at the bottom rear, passing up the crack between the buttocks to the waistband)
    • athletic supporters, also known as jockstraps (with two straps securing the pouch at the bottom rear, passing around the bases of the buttocks up to the waistband at the sides)
    • strapless pouches (with a front pouch and waistband only, no securing straps)
There are also many types of long underwear, union suits, and other variations of men's underwear.

Men's underwear brands include Jockey, Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, Calvin Klein, 2xist, BVD, and the list goes on and on.
