Hollister Performance Denim with COOLMAX

Hollister recently introduced a new line of performance jeans for guys and girls that incorporates INVISTA’s COOLMAX® ALL SEASON technology and LYCRA® fiber for year-round comfort and lasting fit.
One of the most relevant trends in the denim category today is to integrate performance fibers for added functionality. Hollister is taking a leading position in the performance arena with their Advanced Stretch Jeans with COOLMAX® ALL SEASON technology. The fabric moves moisture away to keep the body cool and dry on hot days, and has insulating fibers for added warmth when it is cool. These benefits come from the fiber structure, so they are permanent and don’t wash out.

“At Hollister, denim is a part of our DNA and we continue to find ways to enhance the assortment. Our goal with the innovative COOLMAX® ALL SEASON technology is to provide products that fit the needs of our customer’s on-the-go lifestyle,” said Kristin Scott, Brand President of Hollister Co.

“We believe pairing one of the hottest teen denim brands and with one of the coolest fabric technologies available on the market today will resonate with consumers,” remarked Dave Trerotola, President of INVISTA Apparel and Advanced Textiles. “Our research shows that among ingredient brands in the cooling space, the COOLMAX® brand is the most likely to positively influence purchase intent.” *

In conjunction with launch of the new product line, Hollister and INVISTA have created an exciting, new multi-channel social media campaign to showcase the benefits of the jeans. Digital illusionist and YouTube star, Zach King, appears in a video via this link https://coolmax.com/en/News-and-Blog/2017/01/Zach-King promoting the magic of jeans with COOLMAX® ALL SEASON technology. Teen influencers will be featured in shareable content, and others can join in the fun by using the hashtag #HollisterCOOLMAX.

Talon Stretches into Athleisure Market

Talon International is working new stretch and recovery technology for the athletic and growing athleisure markets.

They are utilizing the Tekfit stretch which has also been recently introduced into the dress shirt market.  The Flex Collar men's dress shirt designed with Talon's Tekfit technology is said to provide men with an additional half inch of expanding collar comfort without wrinkling or compromising the collar structure.

Thank you for taking the time to read our textile industry blog post.

Flex Collar Dress Shirts with Tekfit Stretch

Talon International, Inc. announced that PVH Corp. has launched its Van Heusen Flex Collar men's dress shirts in retail stores.  Flex Collar incorporates Talon's Tekfit® proprietary stretch technology, allowing expandable collar comfort with half inch of stretch.  As a man that wears dress shirts, and hates a tight fitting neckline, this sounds like a fantastic garment.

The Flex Collar men's dress shirt designed with Talon's Tekfit technology is said to provide men with an additional half inch of expanding collar comfort without wrinkling or compromising the collar structure. PVH also announced a comprehensive 360-degree marketing campaign that will support the launch of the Van Heusen Flex Collar shirt this fall and is anchored by a national commercial highlighting iconic tight collar moments from classic movies to popular TV shows.

Further, as a long-time sponsor of the New York Giants, Van Heusen unveiled branded in-stadium creative and various digital shorts shot at MetLife Stadium starring running back Rashad Jennings, guard Justin Pugh, center Weston Richburg, linebacker Devon Kennard, defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins and New York Giants' legend Jessie Armstead. The unique and humorous videos showcase the players in situations where extra space equals more comfort and will be shown on local New York media and across the brand's social media channels.

According to David Sirkin, President of Dress Shirts at PVH Corp. " currently at three key retailers Kohl's, J.C. Penney, and Macy's, the Flex Collar shirt has received positive reaction from customers. If the trend continues, 2016 could be an even stronger roll out of the product. We are also exploring incorporating Tekfit into our other brands as we focus on product innovation and market leadership."

The Tekfit technology transforms an otherwise non-stretchable fabric into a fabric with the ability to stretch and recover, resulting, in this instance, in an unusually comfortable, flexible shirt collar without compromising the style, look or feel of the garment; only the wearer knows the stretch is there.

Talon International, Inc. is a major supplier of custom zippers, complete trim solutions and stretch technology products to manufacturers of fashion apparel, specialty retailers, mass merchandisers, brand licensees and major retailers worldwide. Talon develops, manufactures and distributes custom zippers exclusively under its Talon® brand ("The World's Original Zipper Since 1893"); designs, develops, manufactures, and distributes complete apparel trim solutions and products; and provides stretch technology for specialty waistbands, shirt collars, and other items all under its trademark and world renowned brands, Talon®, and TekFit® to major apparel brands and retailers. Leading retailers worldwide recognize and use Talon products including Abercrombie and Fitch, Polo Ralph Lauren, Kohl's, J.C. Penney, FatFace, Victoria's Secret, Wal-Mart, Tom Tailor, Levi Strauss & Co., Juicy Couture, and many others. The company is headquartered in the greater Los Angeles area, and has offices and facilities throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, India, Indonesia and Bangladesh.  Learn more about Talon International, Inc.

Terra and Fashion Meets Function Collections by Bemis

Bemis Associates, the design and development partner for the world’s great technical, performance, lifestyle and luxury brands, announced the launch  of its Terra and Fashion Meets Function collections to designers, innovators and leading apparel factories at Summer Outdoor Retailer 2015 taking place in Salt Lake City, UT Aug. 5-8, 2015. The latest additions to Bemis’ Sewfree® line, products from both collections enable designers to create high-performance garments with enhanced stretch and recovery, sleeker lines, softer corners and stronger seams. They also give designers the freedom to bond to a greater variety of textiles.
Terra and Fashion Meets Function
“Bemis is committed to providing the design and innovation community with the products they need to elevate their designs through bonding,” said Steve Howard, Chief Executive Officer of Bemis Worldwide. “The Terra and Fashion Meets Function collections each provide key advancements in garment construction and align perfectly with major trends that we are seeing in the marketplace. We’re excited to see what the world’s leading brands can accomplish when their imaginations are uninhibited.”

Terra Collection

Natural fibers’ – including cotton and wool – inherent comfort, aesthetic and anti-odor characteristics are why leading athletic brands are increasingly incorporating them into their designs. The Terra collection includes the first bonded applications that enable designers to seamlessly blend casual fibers within highly technical garments. Designers can get the most out of natural fabrics without the bulk, the weight or the compromised comfort of cut and sew.

There are two key Bemis products within the Terra collection:
  • Bemis Natural Fiber is specifically formulated for natural textiles including wool, cotton, poly-blends and taffeta. This solution allows for basic construction needs including fabric-to-fabric and piece-to-piece. It’s ideal for incorporating the current trend of non-synthetics and blends into your concepts through overlap seam, fabric overlays, panel to panel and fold over finishes.
  • OT523 lets you add detail to heavier materials, including fleece. Thicker than Bemis’ standard overlay tape, it’s easy to die cut or laser cut and is abrasion-resistant. OT523 is an excellent way to add differentiating detail for zippers, pocket flaps, collars or cuffs while adhering to even unexpected surfaces for pieces that really stand out.
Fashion Meets Function

Athleisure is dominating the marketplace right now. Consumers are loyally wearing what they like aesthetically and what fits best, indiscriminate of fitness or fashion demarcation. The Fashion Meets Function collection was created to enable designers to produce beautiful and versatile garments that transition throughout the day with consumers – from the gym to drinks with friends.

There are two marquee products in the Fashion Meets Function collection:
  • Exoflex film stretches and springs back into shape right along with performancewear fabrics, letting designers enhance their designs without compromising functionality. Just like the OT523 fabric, Exoflex can be die or laser cut and is abrasion resistant. Recommended applications for Exoflex are edge trims, laser cut graphics, functional panels, and waistbands.
  • Heather Seam Reinforcement Tape can be used in designs to add the timelessly trendy look of heather detail to solid color fabrics, complementing the look of traditional sportswear. The tape adds visual appeal and strengthens bonding.
