Musicians Inspire Fashion: Fitz and The Tantrums

This blog post is primarily about the band.  If you are not interested in music, you may want to turn back now.  Apparel Search was compelled to share this news with you because we really like the photo above.  Musicians have an interesting sense of style.  It is nice to see them grouped together so we can get a quick glimpse at band fashion.

On the heels of "The Walker" - Fitz and The Tantrums' second single to hit No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart in less than a year - being certified Gold, the Los Angeles-based band announces plans to remain on the road through November 2014. Thefall headline run will kick off on September 2 at Water Street Music Hall in Rochester, NY. Beginning in November, the band will be joined by special guest Big Data on select dates, including an evening at New York City's Terminal 5 (November 12) and a sold-out show at First Avenue in Minneapolis (November 21). See below for itinerary.

Fitz and The Tantrums roll into Chicago this week for a performance on the Lollapalooza Main Stage on Saturday, August 2, and an official Lollapalooza aftershow at the Metro on August 3, which is sold out. While in town, Fitz will be singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" at the Chicago Cubs vs. Colorado Rockies game this Thursday, July 31 at Wrigley Field.  On August 25, Fitz and The Tantrums will play a three-song set at the Opening Ceremony for the 2014 US Open in Arthur Ashe Stadium at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.  The performance will be carried live by ESPN as part of the cable network's comprehensive coverage of the US Open.

Fashion on I'm Madonna New Video

MADONNA is premiering the music video for "Bitch I'm Madonna" on Tidal. The video, the third from her critically acclaimed 13th studio album REBEL HEART, was available to view exclusively by Tidal subscribers for 24 hours starting June 17, 2015.   Following its premiere on Tidal, the video will be available on Madonna's VEVO page.

Featuring guest stars:  Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Diplo, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Rita Ora, Chris Rock and Kanye West along with fashion designer Alexander Wang and Madonna's sons Rocco and David, the "Bitch I'm Madonna" video was shot on the 17th floor at Andre Balasz's Standard Highline hotel and in its clubs the Boom Boom Room and Le Bain. Jonas Åkerlund, who has directed several of Madonna's videos including the already classic and current "Ghosttown", "Music" and "Ray of Light", directed the video.  It was styled by Arianne Phillips who is one of Madonna's longtime stylists and was the costume designer on Madonna's film W.E. as well as last five Madonna Tours.  A complete list of Madonna's wardrobe can be found below.  Other credits include: Megan Lawson and Kevin Maher for choreography, Andy LeCompte for hair and makeup by Aaron Henrikson.

Fitz and The Tantrums Style

As we have discussed in the past, music and fashion go hand in hand. Therefore, on occassion we post about trendy bands.

Fitz and The Tantrums deliver a tale of love, loss and landing on your feet in the official video for their new single, "Fools Gold." The clip, which was directed by Zak Stoltz, launched today and can be seen HERE. "Fools Gold" is the latest single from More Than Just A Dream (Elektra/Atlantic Records). "The Walker" and "Out Of My League," the two previous singles, each topped Billboard's Alternative Songs chart at # 1 and were certified RIAA Gold. The accompanying videos have more than five million views each.

The band is closing out 2014 with a bang. Fitz and The Tantrums will perform on "Good Morning America" on Friday, November 21. Their fall headline tour is underway with special guest Big Data opening on the November dates, which include a nearly sold-out show at New York City's Terminal 5 (November 12), two nights at Boston's House of Blues (November 15 & 16) and a sold-out show at First Avenue in Minneapolis (November 21). In December, Fitz and The Tantrums will rock holiday concerts from coast to coast and end an extraordinary year with a special performance at the downtown Long Beach, CA New Year's Eve celebration. "Fitz and The Tantrums: Live at The Aragon Ballroom," a new Palladia special, captures the band in concert at this legendary Chicago venue, whipping a 5,000-person crowd into a sweaty, fun-filled dance explosion and proving that Vogue was right to name them the hardest working band in showbiz. "Live at The Aragon Ballroom" will air on Palladia on November 4 @ 2:00 PM, November 8 @ 11:00 PM, November 13 @ 9:00 PM and November 21 @ 5:00 PM.          

The Washington Post called Fitz and The Tantrums' live show "captivatingly crazy" and Rolling Stone said, "This six-piece Los Angeles pop-soul group is all about irrepressible energy: hopped-up rhythms, shout-it-out choruses, hooted background vocals." The New York Times noted, "Their debut effort, 'Pickin' Up the Pieces' (Dangerbird), and follow-up, 'More Than Just a Dream' (Elektra/Atlantic), burst with danceable hooks."
