Fame Rocks Fashion Week

Fashion gives everyone the ability to express him or herself uniquely and personally; music can make people feel a wide range of emotions and provides inspiration, and The New York Fame Inc., is where the best of these two worlds meet.
Fame Rocks Fashion Week

Co-founded in 2009 by sisters Melisa and Andrene Brown, and friend Nye Brown, The New York Fame was created as a fashion, art, and music exhibition that supports the originality of New York's art, fashion, and music scene through a creative, diverse, and urban platform.  Twice a year, The New York Fame hosts its signature event, Fame Rocks Fashion Week, to enhance the visibility and awareness for emerging and premier designers, artists, and musicians.
Butterfly Dress

On September 10, 2015 Fame Rocks Fashion Week featured Project Runway Season 6 winner Irina Shabayeva in its first Designer Reality Series.   This season Irina Shabeyeva showcased her spring/summer 2016 collection at SUSI ROXX restaurant in The Tuscany Hotel in midtown Manhattan, says co-founder and executive producer of The New York Fame, Melisa Brown. Inspired by Japan¹s rich heritage and traditional eighteenth century Geisha style, Irina¹s collection fused together highly colorful elements and bold textures with her classic, sleek, and clean tailoring.

The showcase was held at SUSHI ROXX restaurant in the Tuscany Hotel at 120 East 39th Street in New York. The event also featured live entertainment from well-known violinist and America¹s Got Talent finalist Damien Escobar. Agion Antimicrobial Textile Solutions

Bacterial growth on textile products can cause unpleasant odors and decrease product life.  The proverbial “smelly sneaker” is actually caused by bacteria growing happily in their favorite environment which is a warm, dark, moist place.  Consumers value smart textiles and expect specialized technology that will provide added benefits and protection for everything from the clothes on their back to the shoes on their feet.

Sciessent is a leader in functional solutions. The Agion antimicrobial product line is used in critical applications in the drinking water, food contact, medical device and architectural surfaces markets.  In addition the Company is an innovator in odor management and water repellency solutions for apparel markets with its Agion Active, Sciessent Lava and Sciessent Curb textile finishes.  They continue to build on the guiding principles of protection and cleanliness with their branded technologies, and are dedicated to new ideas and continuous innovation to develop the next generation of sustainable solutions.

The Agion textile advantages include: Proven effectiveness by ISO testing.  The confidence of unpleasant odor elimination.  Oeko-Tex Standard 100 safety certification.  Reduced washing of garments.  Cost effective value proposition.

They work in close partnership with companies, helping them to deliver differentiated, customized solutions for a wide range of products in the textile & apparel market.

Sciessent's customized Agion antimicrobial solutions incorporate silver, copper and other elemental ions into a zeolite carrier. The ions exchange with other positive ions (often sodium) from the moisture in the environment, effecting a release of the antimicrobial elements “on demand”.  The patented multi-faceted zeolite crystal carrier provides a three dimensional release mechanism that provides efficient release of ions independent of particle orientation in the substrate.  Learn more about Agion Antimicrobial textiles.

Sciessent Lava is an essential element to incorporate into products that may harbor or be exposed to odors. Harnessing the power of zeolites - a mineral based substance born from volcanic ash - Sciessent Lava can literally be infused into a wide variety of materials, capturing odor on everything from sweat soaked apparel to pet products, home textiles and beyond.  Learn more about Sciessent Lava.

Agion Active represents the next generation of odor control for textiles and apparel. Agion Active is applied to textiles as a fabric finish creating gear and apparel that never smells! Designed to fit into the most demanding applications and environments – from performance and athletic apparel to sporting goods, home and commercial textiles and pet products, Agion Active stops odor and handles the toughest microbes to deliver unparalleled, long lasting freshness.  Find out more about Agion Active.

The Low Cut Rainbow Jumpsuit

Miley Cyrus may be known for her wacky outfits that leave little to the imagination, but the low-cut jumpsuit she wore to the MTV Video Music Awards August 30, 2015, cloaked in rainbow Preciosa crystal components, shone even brighter than the rest.
Miley Cyrus Rainbow Jumpsuit

Miley is just one of many influential celebrities to turn to fashion designers The Blonds, and thus, the beautiful Preciosa crystal components. Her floral Flamenco style costume was created by Phillipe Blond and David Blond and styled by Simone Harouche.
The Blonds Miley Cyrus Jumpsuit

We love Miley Cyrus!” says David Trujillo of The Blonds, “she has no limits and her style is all about FUN, and for the opening of the VMAs we needed to take things to the next level. With Preciosa, the look came alive on stage - talk about flower power in crystal!”

Cyrus is not the first to shine in the Czech brand. Queen of Pop Madonna donned a Preciosa crystal-covered corset in her music video “Livin’ for Love” this past February, teen dream Ariana Grande performed at the 2014 MTV Music Awards in a Preciosa diamond-encrusted bodice, and singing sensation Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson captivated California in pretty Preciosa pieces while hosting the 2015 New Years’ Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.

The crystal company entered into the American fashion world in 1950. It is best known for its fine, lead-free MAXIMA crystals, on top of its broad range of precision-cut crystals, beads, and nacre pearls.  Preciosa’s crystal components are a hit among many well-renowned U.S. fashion and jewelry designers due to their ease, grace and beauty.

Filene’s Basement is Back

Filene’s Basement is back.  At least back online.

Filene’s Basement was founded in Boston in 1909 on the crazy idea that quality fashion should be available to everyone.  Shopping there was the ultimate treasure hunt.  You never knew what you were going to find, but knew it would be fabulous, and at an awesome price.  When the doors of the last Filene’s Basement store closed in 2011, it left a big hole in the hearts of fashion-lovers around the country.  Fortunately for fashionistas, Filene’s Basement is back.  Not the same as in the past, but definitely back in the retail space.
Filene's Basement 2015
Now Filene’s Basement is back exclusively online, and they are still all about helping you find whatever it is that makes you, you.  This time around they don’t have retail stores, but they have more product, more fashion brands, and a personalized shopping experience that helps shoppers find exactly what they are looking for.  If you are looking to find something new at a reasonable price, give the new online version of Filene’s Basement a try.

Pepper Jacques Fashion Brand

Pepper Jacques is a young womenswear fashion brand that has experienced the many twist and turns of starting a business, yet they continue to persevere.  If you enjoy learning about emerging fashion brands, it would be a good idea for you to learn where they have been, where they are going and who they are.

Last week we heard Iman say at a 92Y event that there are no young black designers.  The designers behind Pepper Jacques would like to counter that point and say that, "we are here".  As designers who dare to enter into the fashion space they know that they have set a high hurdle to climb as the cost barrier to entry into general fashion is high already and luxury fashion is simply mind boggling. They are also a brand that looks to stray for the traditional fashion operations path by embracing sizes 0-22 as one brand.  We are not a misses brand. We are not a plus brand.  We are simply a modern inclusive fashion brand. We are also redefining shopping experiences using technology, breaking away from seasonality & pursuing pop ups as business model versus brick and mortar locations.

They have an event coming up on 10/2/15 where they will showcases pieces from their collection while raising money for the American Cancer Society.  Even as a young brand, they have built giving back into the ethos of Pepper Jacques. Learn more about the event at http://www.pepperjacques.com/resort-escape/

The Pepper Jacques team consist of complementing sisters, Rachel Fenderson, with degrees from Parsons The New School of Design and Hofstra University, and Marshea Fenderson, Operations Engineer with degrees from Tufts, George Washington, NC State, and Stanford, 14+ years corporate experience.

They are not a Misses Brand, they are not a Plus Brand, they are Fashion Brand. They create for all Women.

They produce a limited release each season with the intention of gradually completing a woman’s boudoir. Every single piece is crafted to fill a certain gap that the Pepper Jacques woman has in her wardrobe.

Pepper Jacques aims to combat body shaming at all sizes by becoming the new standard of a luxury fashion brand, inclusive.  Short, petite, tall, athletic, curvy or slender, Pepper Jacques enhances women in exclusively accessible luxury fashion so that they can reflect their best selves.

They believe that  their message is important and our presence in the marketplace will contribute to positive industry and social change.

Plus Life TV Series

Curvy Girl Lingerie in San Jose is excited to announce the store will be featured in a new reality TV show highlighting a day in the life at the popular boutique. “Plus Life™” is shooting 10 half-hour episodes for the first season that will air on a major cable channel and the sizzle reel will be available soon.

The groundbreaking series by Executive Producer Adryenn Ashley and Curvy Girl Lingerie owner Chrystal Bougon does something rarely seen on TV: portray plus-size women in a positive light as beautiful, unapologetic, empowered, sexual beings who love themselves now – not 50 less pounds from now.

The show opens on a birthday celebration introducing the colorful cast of characters and weaves through their lives throughout the season, culminating in the annual Curvy Girl Lingerie Fashion Show. Episodes throughout the season include a Curvy Girl pole dance class, game nights, boudoir photo shoots, dinner parties with Fat Activists and more.

Plus Life is a sex- and body-positive TV show celebrating people who are a reflection of Americans across the country that are plump, sexy and proud of it. The program is excited to showcase customers who love all of themselves and want to express the pleasure their plus-size bodies and lives are capable of.

There is no place in Plus Life for depressed characters who hate their bodies or their lives, are dieting, cleansing or try to squeeze themselves into Spanx. Rather, Plus Life is an unapologetic salute to people of size who are body confident and happy in their own skin.
