3D Visualization Technology Option for AccuMark 10

Gerber Technology, a world leader in integrated solutions for the apparel and industrial markets, announces the availability of 3D visualization technology as an optional module for AccuMark® 10, its industry leading integrated pattern design, grading, planning and marker making software.

According to Mary McFadden, director of CAD product management with Gerber Technology, 3D technology is a visualization tool that assists all along the design and development process. “It will help the pattern maker to know whether the pattern works in the design, the designer to refine the details of the creation, and to visualize the fit and comfort of the garment on the model, all without actually making the garment,” she said. “This technology can assist all the way through to merchandising, where it can be used in e-commerce.”

Gerber’s 3D solution is leveraging sophisticated 3D graphics and animation technology called Blender.

Blender is a professional free and open-source 3D computer graphics software product used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, interactive 3D applications and video games. Blender's features include 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, raster graphics editing, rigging and skinning, fluid and smoke simulation, particle simulation, soft body simulation, sculpting, animating, match moving, camera tracking, rendering, video editing and compositing. Alongside the modeling features it also has an integrated game engine.  The Dutch animation studio Neo Geo and Not a Number Technologies (NaN) developed Blender as an in-house application, with the primary author being Ton Roosendaal. The name Blender was inspired by a song by Yello, from the album Baby.

The technology has been used widely in the animation, movie, video game and simulation industries.  Its broad spectrum of modeling, texturing, lighting and simulation capabilities make it one of the most popular Open Source 3D graphics applications in the world. “Blender is an extremely robust simulation engine which allows us to get a realistic visualization of fit and movement of a garment. Our internal development team and the large global community of developers working with Blender give us a tremendous edge advancing the use of 3D,” McFadden said.

Gerber was one of the first to introduce pattern making software for the apparel industry.  Today, AccuMark CAD systems are used by more than 15,000 customers, including many of the world’s leading fashion brands.  Gerber has launched technologies that have become the benchmarks for CAD pattern making, grading, planning and marker making software, as well as for automated spreading and cutting machines.

For additional information about the availability of the 3D module and AccuMark 10 software, you can visit http://www.unleashyourvision.com.

About Gerber Technology: For nearly 50 years, Gerber Technology has been the world leader in providing integrated solutions to help its customers automate and more effectively manage product design and manufacturing processes in the apparel and industrial marketplaces. The company serves 25,000 customers, including more than 100 Fortune 500 companies, in the aerospace, apparel, retail, composites, packaging, furniture, technical textiles and transportation interiors industries in 130 countries.

Based in Connecticut, Gerber Technology is owned by Vector Capital, a San Francisco-based, global private equity firm specializing in the technology sector that manages more than $2 billion of equity capital.

Best Tips to Prevent Your Clothes from Getting Wrinkled

As we all know, the laundry cleaning task is one of the most tedious and time-consuming tasks that no one wants to do. As a result, majority of the people look for the laundry cleaning service providers or the wash and fold service providers to make their task easier and hassle-free. There are also some of the rare cases where people prefer cleaning their laundry by themselves at their home. So, if one prefers to do laundry cleaning at their home, there are number of factors to keep in mind before initiating with laundry cleaning.
fold and put away your laundry
First and foremost factor is to have a deep knowledge of how each type of fabric should be treated and should be cleaned. The next thing to keep in mind is to hang out the clothes properly in order to reduce the wrinkles on the cloth at the minimal level. Majority of the people don’t have sufficient time for ironing their clothes and so it is necessary to treat the clothes in such a way that it does not have more wrinkles. So, below are presented some of the significant tips shortlisted by wash and fold service at Manhattan, which are necessary to keep in mind in order to prevent your clothes from getting wrinkled:
Removing clothing from the dryer
Carefully separate the clothes of each type: One should be careful that the clothes are being separated by its color while doing laundry. Generally, the whites and light colored clothes must be placed together and dark colored clothes with the dark ones. In order to prevent wrinkles on the cloth, it would be better if the clothes are separated by fabric content as well as weight. Appropriate sorting of clothes, that too before washing will help in reducing the wrinkles on clothes to a greater extent. Generally, lightweight fabrics dry much quicker as compared to the heavier ones like the denim. Thus, it is better to carefully sort out the clothes for avoiding the wrinkles to set on clothes.

Carefully unload the clothes from dryer: As such, there is no particular technique or skill for unloading the apparels from the dryer. Just take up the clothes out and pile them in a basket. Do not place heavy fabric clothes on the lighter ones as it will crush them resulting into more deep wrinkles. In order to save your time and to avoid ironing your clothes, it is advisable to take few minutes to fold the clothes correctly as soon as the clothes come out of the dryer. If you just leave the heap of clothes in the basket, the weight of the pile would ultimately result into causing the wrinkles to set in more deeply.

Pay attention with your dryer cycle: Generally, all dryers work the same way and so they use gas or electric energy source to dry the clothes. As a result, the dryers vent the moisture and draw it from the fabric and this difference in heating and cooling down cycles determines that whether the clothes will come out with deep wrinkles or wrinkle free. As a result, it is advisable to pay attention with the drying cycle and prevent them from losing more moisture from the clothes.

In case, if the clothes are getting slightly wrinkled after storing them, you can steam out the wrinkles by running a hot shower on them and then letting the clothes steam for a while. Thus, these were some of the best tips to prevent your clothes from getting wrinkled.

BESTIVAL 2015 Costume Festival

Festivals and costume parties have become synonymous in the U.K. but it hasn't always been the case. Ten years ago BESTIVAL challenged its audience to attempt a world record for the biggest ever dressing up party and, with the help of a willing crowd of super-creative party loving people, they  changed the face of festival culture forever, sparking a huge UK-wide renaissance in what they call fancy dress. Now, as the BESTIVAL story unfolds into new worlds, they are coming to Toronto, and they need you to help them make this the mother of all parties.
BESTIVAL curator Rob da Bank says: “We do love dressing up at Bestival and have seen the most incredible creations over the last dozen years at Bestival UK. There’s something about dressing up and letting your hair down that seems to make people drop their guard and just escape for a while. So it’s not about a plastic Elvis quiff and microphone from a cheap store, it’s more about wearing something you wouldn’t wear anywhere else, but kinda want to anyway! Equally if it’s not your thing come as you are….just come :)”
BESTIVAL Costume Party

Over the years BESTIVAL’s themes have become world renowned, never failing to fire up the crowd’s imagination. From Pirates to Outer Space and HMS Bestival to the Desert Island Disco, rallying 55,000 fashionistas in the art of dressing up, they are the catalyst for incredible audience creativity, and a weekend of un-self-conscious joy, forging a shared experience that is truly unique to the event. For our first-ever foray abroad we thought we’d give Canadian Bestivalites free rein to get those creative juices flowing. The reason we wanted to come to Toronto in the first place is because we know how original and inventive you are; it’s open house on fancy dress, so show us what you’ve got!

But be prepared because it’s not just BESTIVAL-goers who push the boat out, the performers love a bit of a costume party, too. From Mumford & Sons’ fetching musketeer look, and Lily Allens glittering Barbarella, to Florence Welch’s space age flapper, the all-embracing love for costume-based high-jinx takes the festival vibe to another level of unadulterated hedonism that can’t be underestimated. Music festivals in North America see an abundance of their own kind of “fancy dress,” with dance music culture allowing music lovers to express their individualities through eccentric outfits. Embrace the BESTIVAL costume party and get creative! Be whoever you want to be! Take a look at some images from previous years in the UK here: http://bestival.ca/photos/costume-gallery/photo/1
BESTIVAL Costume Festival
So make sure you grab your fancy dress and take the party even higher when you come to see Florence + the Machine, Nas, Flume, Caribou, SBTRKT (DJ), Banks and more at Hanlan’s Point Beach, Toronto Island on June 12 and 13.

We’ll have more news coming your way, meanwhile, keep checking http://www.bestival.ca for all the latest info

Off-Aisle by Kohl’s

Kohl’s will test a new store format offering deep discounts on returned merchandise.

The retailer has leased a 30,000-square-foot space in a suburban strip mall in New Jersey that will open early next month as Off-Aisle by Kohl’s.  More specifically the new store will be situated on a high-traffic street in Cherry Hill, NJ.  For those of you that are not too familiar with New Jersey, Cherry Hill is not too far from Philadelphia.

In the beginning, the plan is to fill the shelves will be “like-new” clothing, accessories and home goods returned to Kohl’s department stores or Kohls.com.  Who knows, maybe they will add slow moving merchandise from the other stores into the mix in the future.

The firm applied last month for a trademark on the phrase “Off Aisle by Kohl’s.”

We are not certain, but we have heard rumor that discounts may run as high as 70% to 90% off original retail store pricing.   All sales will be final, with no returns or exchanges allowed.

If you enjoy shopping off-price, you may want to also learn about how Macy’s recently decided to get into the off-price fashion business as well.  You can read the Macy’s Off-price news on the Fashion Blog.  Their store is called Macy’s Backstage in case you were curious.

We will try to let you know more about Off-Aisle by Kohl’s as we learn more about the store.

“We are thrilled to bring our global jewelry collection to the U.S. for the first time,” said Coralie Charriol-Paul, Creative Director for CHARRIOL. “This is something completely different for CHARRIOL in the U.S. – we are offering new, fresh designs that are anchored in our exclusive twisted cable, which is the essence of the CHARRIOL brand. We want women and men in this country to enjoy what our international customers have prized for years: conceptual jewelry with a European heritage.”

Carrying on a family legacy launched in 1983 by her father and the company’s founder, Philippe Charriol, Coralie has spent the last 10 years designing more than 15 jewelry collections, including best-sellers such as “Crazy in Love,” “Forever Young,” “Kimono,” “Bamboo,” “Kucha,” “Pom Pom Pearl,” and “Circle of Love.” Her design philosophy is grounded in fashioning pieces that empower modern women to create their own signature style. The new jewelry collections being showcased at LUXURY during JCK Las Vegas include flagship lines “Forever Young Colors,” ”Banglemania,” and “Tango.”

Forever Young with Fresh, Playful Colors
Evoking a fairy-tale-meets-rock mood, these new colored bangles and rings are framed by rose gold or black in 10 rainbow shades that echo the urban-folk trends that continue to be featured on the runways. One of CHARRIOL’s most popular jewelry lines, the Forever Young bangles come in a narrow cuff style, and the fresh new shades add a dash of French chic to any outfit. Colored cables in pale blue, peach, pink, navy blue, violet, and pistachio green are teamed with rose gold for a fresh look that will enliven any outfit, year-round. Bracelets edged with black are a canvas for cables in fuchsia, cobalt blue, green, or charcoal in the brand’s most modern interpretation yet of its signature motif. Small CHARRIOL insignias in rose gold or black discs add a final sophisticated stamp to these stackable bracelets.
Stack It with Banglemania
The trend for bracelets, cuffs, and bangles is here to stay, and the bangle has become every woman’s go-to accessory. Add a personal touch to shirts, blazers, work-wear, and beautiful evening dresses with CHARRIOL’s stackable, collectable Banglemania designs by mixing and matching CHARRIOL’s Forever Young, Tango, and Celtic designs. Twists and cables, torques and cuffs, colored or monochrome, wrapped with wires or plainly elegant, adorned with stones or embellished with hearts and clasps, slim or broad – there are six variants to choose from in a spectrum of tones, including silver, bronze, black and gold.
Do the Tango
Entwined like two lovers on the dance floor, Tango takes its inspiration from the passionate Latin dance, represented by an intricate embrace of gold-plated cables, sparkling stones, and contemporary hammered silver wires. These handcrafted pieces are embellished with exquisite yellow, green, and red stones, which add flashes of color, like a flamboyant tango gown. Wear the ensemble of earrings, pendant necklace, ring and bracelet together for a glamorous look, or singly to add a dash of dramatic interest.
Complementing the new global jewelry collection, CHARRIOL will also showcase the brand’s newest timepieces, including designs by Visual Director Alexandre Charriol, at LUXURY during JCK Las Vegas.
St-Tropez™ 35mm is Out of This World
A special new style of CHARRIOL’s popular St-Tropez™ timepiece for women, this larger 35mm size offers a beautiful canvas with unique lunar calendar functionality, embellished with a rich mother of pearl dial, in tribute to the shimmering lunar mood. With a polished bezel engraved with the CHARRIOL lettering and the iconic cable bracelet strap and security clasp, this watch is available in steel, yellow, or pink-gold-plated PVD, offering a light, dreamy feel married with exquisite details and a mystical spirit. An extra special diamond variant is also available, with either full moon diamond bezel or glittering eclipse diamond design.
St-Tropez™ Style – Match it –  Clip it – Style it Your Way!

Inspired by Saint Tropez, one of the most glamorous resorts in the French Mediterranean, CHARRIOL’s iconic and much-loved St-Tropez™ watch with feminine chain-link bracelet and CHARRIOL detailing can now be infinitely customized thanks to a selection of 10 interchangeable bracelet chains and charming matching clips. Reflecting true personal style, the chains – in delicate rose gold or silvery-toned steel and contrasting materials including steel, mother of pearl, and precious stones – are adorned with playful motifs, from animals to hearts and angel wings, which can be changed so women can accessorize to suit the mood or moment.
Alexandre C Art Edition – Reveal Your True Self

Just like a unique artwork, the Night Masks Collection is a highly personal new range designed by international artist Alexandre Charriol himself. These new timepieces reinterpret CHARRIOL’s signature Alexandre C model and come in a limited series of just 500 pieces, each signed by Alexandre. Inspired by Alexandre’s collection of paintings, “Human Flow,” the watches reflect Alex’s own insights on how we interact in society, the “masks” we sometimes wear, and the liberating effect of the night. Free-form images of human faces are etched onto the dials and are direct replicas of Alex’s global exhibition. With four color-ways of steel, charcoal, bronze and blue, the watch is a unisex large size of 40mm.
Alexandre C – The Essence of CHARRIOL
In 1984, Philippe Charriol created and named a timepiece after his first son, Alexandre. Over the years, the design has evolved, and is now in its third incarnation. This stylish signature timepiece, with its endearing story, embodies the values of the CHARRIOL family: determination, style and success. Quintessentially CHARRIOL, the Alexandre C collection carries all the hallmarks of the brand: fine watchmaking expertise, attention to detail, and the iconic CHARRIOL cabled bracelet strap, or alternatively, our new and contemporary smooth, chain-link strap. Available with the CHARRIOL lettering around the bezel or a full diamond bezel pavé, as well as mother of pearl or guilloche dials, roman numerals, or diamond counters, the range offers a wide variety of styles, making these classic timepieces perfect for couples to wear and pair together.
Step up the pace with the Automatic Chrono GRAN CELTICA™ SuperSportS
The new men’s GRAN CELTICA™ SuperSportS timepiece, which introduces a more streamlined look for the brand, is a limited-edition release in an exclusive series of 30 pieces. CHARRIOL’s GRAN CELTICA™ SuperSportS is a high-performance, sporty and stylish watch with a strong allusion to motor sports and the brand’s deep ties with sports car racing. The brand’s founder, Philippe Charriol, is a keen racing car driver and the brand enjoys a long tradition of motorsports sponsorship. In keeping with the passionate inspiration behind this watch, the GRAN CELTICA takes on a sportier allure as the traditional cable strap is swapped out for a sleek, stainless steel chain-link bracelet.
CHARRIOL jewelry and timepieces will be showcased at LUXURY Booth #LUX607A during JCK Las Vegas.
