Accessorize Your Wedding Dress

There's no wrong way to accessorize your wedding dress.

If you're still experiencing a little nervousness about picking out your bridal shoes and accessories, the people at David¹s Bridal have a few tips and ideas to give you a nudge in the right direction:

Be True To Yourself - If diamonds never were your best friend, now's not the time to hang a hefty rock around your neck. Whether you choose to dance at your wedding in Grandma's pearls or chic, diamond chandeliers, trust your instincts and feel beautiful! Don't be afraid to look at your jewelry box before you go shopping.  Is there a gorgeous statement piece there that means a lot to you? Problem solved.

Shoe-Dazzling - You don't have to wear white (or heels). Some brides choose to use their shoes as their "something blue," while others like to match their shoes to the wedding theme colors. If you're daring and want to break even further from tradition, consider wearing a fun pair of sneakers or flip flops.

Less Is More - Although it may be tempting to indulge in bridal treats, they sure can break the bank. Besides, over-accessorizing detracts from the main star of the night -- your dress.

Learn more about David's Bridal at their wedding solutions website.

Well Kept Fashion Brand Launch Party

New York based contemporary clothing brand, Well-Kept releases her first Autumn/Winter collection.
Launching this season, Well-Kept is the brainchild of 24 year old designer, Brianna DeRose.  Brianna became keenly aware of what she felt was a missing piece in the market, intimate apparel that is chic yet functional. She saw the glaring lack of intimate pieces that can be worn both to the gym and a night out and everywhere in between. The idea for her line Well Kept was born.

Brianna’s sharp eye, and understanding of a woman’s desire to look and feel fashionable, lets her create intimate pieces that are meant to be seen on their own or layered, integrated into a woman’s complete look.  Her designs emphasize and support a woman’s curvature, a direct result of her close study of the female form and movement and her own vibrant athleticism. The way a piece fits and follows the body in motion is vital in bringing out a woman’s natural sensuality.  Sourcing all of her fabrics for Well Kept directly from Paris and New York, her hand chosen luxurious stretch woven knits and leathers fit and feel as beautifully as they look.

Brianna sees Well-Kept as the base for every woman’s wardrobe. “Well-Kept is a collection which even if you are not feeling ‘well-kept’ or unruly, once you put it on… there is an instant confidence that exudes out.”

Well Kept’s Autumn/Winter 2013 collection features bodysuits with mesh paneling; perforated leather sports bras, jersey racer tanks and cashmere slouchy lounge pants.  “The inspiration this season is drawn from minimalist design, Helmut Newton photography, even bits and pieces from 90s cult movie classic, Clueless” explains Brianna.   Standout styles such as the ‘Cher ‘cropped top and the Bobbi top highlights the use of leather details featuring soft  lambskin leather detailing that would look great styled with a plaid school girl skirt or slouchy lounge pants and biker boots for a downtown feel.

Producing entirely in New York City, allows Brianna to support the Garment District which is a community that she loves and is proud to be a member of, but also allows her close proximity to production, ensuring that each piece is exactly as she envisioned.

Brianna is passionate about helping women look gorgeous and feel comfortable in their own skin.  She creates pieces that harness the power of the way a woman feels when she has achieved that ease and letting her radiate that confidence through what she wears.

Judy R Clark Fashion a Frock Coat

Award-winning Judy R Clark is the only Scottish fashion designer to land a coveted place on Wowcracy, the new crowd-sourced fashion platform supported by style-bible Vogue.

Through Wowcracy, Judy – who has created specially-commissioned pieces for Emeli Sande, Levi’s and Ford – must raise £4,000 in 90 days in order to produce a collection of exclusive Harris Tweed and Scottish lace frock coats.

Wowcracy is a revolutionary new online fashion buying platform which allows designers to sell exclusive access to them and their collections in a bid to raise the full amount needed to fund the entire production process of each item – including manufacturing the garments.

Judy’s project – entitled ‘Fashion a Frock Coat’ – will produce the Edinburgh-based designer’s first ready-to-wear line.

Judy said: “I receive emails every day from people asking where they can get hold of my garments or how they can order my designs.

“When I heard about Wowcracy I thought it was the perfect platform to showcase my work to a global audience. Through the site, anyone can buy in to my entire design process from start to finish.

“I am offering numerous parts of the journey, from a regular update email blog, limited edition postcards and prints of the designs, to a studio visit inputting in to the overall look of the garments, to of course owning one of my jackets including a ‘Frock Coat’ named in their honour.

“By using this crowd-funding approach people will essentially pre-order my creations and become part of my exclusive fashion brand.”

All the garments will be made in Scotland from Scottish textiles including traditional Harris Tweed from Harris Tweed Hebrides and lace from Ayrshire mill Morton, Young and Borland (MYB Textiles).

Judy added: “Wowcracy, which is also backed by Glamour magazine, is an excellent way for me to introduce more people around the world to my work.”

To support Judy’s Wowcracy initiative visit: bit.ly/JudyWow

Wowcracy considered over 100 submissions from international designers, with Judy chosen as the only Scottish designer to take part.

Named Best New Designer at the Scottish Variety Awards 2012, Judy, originally from Fort William, has an already growing fan base across the globe.

After graduating from Edinburgh’s Heriot Watt University in 2006, she worked with legendary fashion designer Alexander McQueen before going on to launch her own label, and showing her Scottish-inspired works at high profile events such as ‘Dressed to Kilt’ in New York and ‘Tweed goes to Tokyo’ in Japan.

The ‘Fashion a Frock Coat’ range will consist of a limited number of garments. Twenty five male and twenty five female frock coats will be created, each numbered so the wearer can identify their own unique item.

Finally, two lucky people will become owners of a frock coat – one female and one male – named exclusively, complete with the signed design sketches of the garments.

Other limited edition items available to pre-order from Wowcracy include 200 opportunities to feature on Judy’s website as a contributor to the project (and receive her regular blog emails), 250 limited edition postcard packs featuring Judy’s design illustrations, 25 opportunities to work with the designer on the project in her Beaverhall Art Studio in Edinburgh and 20 hand-drawn sketches signed by the designer.

Wowcracy is an innovative online buying platform where consumers are encouraged to review various fashion designers profiles and lend support to a collection through the unique crowd sourced arrangement.

After designing for over 15 years at a number of New York City design houses, Alice NG recognized a need for new feminine classics with an edge. Immediately after graduation from Parsons School of Design & Cooper Union, Alice was recruited to design for a number of Fifth Avenue houses including Carolina Herrera, DKNY for LVMH, Calvin Klein, Cynthia Steffe, Kenneth Cole, and Tommy Hilfiger.  A native New Yorker, Alice has always kept true to her roots. She believes that there is a New York City essence that embraced global culture.  She is constantly aware of her surroundings and of her friends, which are her central muses.

This season, Alice was influenced in particular by her friends from Paris. “Paris like New York City and other cities like Los Angeles, provides so much incredible fashion inspiration.  BUT what I find to be the most inspiring is the STRENGTH & FEMININTY in the New York & Parisian woman.  It is about knowing what works for you.  The modern day woman requires quite a bit because the city changes from day to day.  It makes me want to just see more and more of this modern woman.”
