How Much Underwear is Enough

If you are wondering, "how much underwear is enough?"  The answer is that you can never own enough.  It is important to keep in mind that you should rotate "new" into your wardrobe and "old" into the garbage from time to time.

Did you know that 45 percent of millennial women own four or more styles of panties (briefs are most popular) and men have two weeks’ worth of underwear in their dresser drawers (58 percent said they wear only one style)?

Briefs, hipsters and bikinis are the top-three styles owned, worn and purchased. Of the total number of panties sold, 31 percent are briefs, 19 percent are hipsters and 19 percent are bikinis.

String bikinis and thongs are worn more often during the summer; other styles are unaffected by changes in the season. Of women who only wear one style, they are most likely to wear briefs, the top style for women aged 55 and older.
Millenium Women Underwear
On average, men have two week's worth of underwear.  Men own an average of 16 pairs of underwear and regularly rotate 13 different pairs. Asked about the underwear in their drawer, 58 percent of men said they only wear one type; 26 percent wear two different styles; 9 percent wear three different types; and an adventurous 7 percent have four or more different types of underwear in their drawer.

Is your panties or underwear draw a bit low on inventory at the moment? Shop at Hanes to get back on track.

If you are not sure which colors are trendy this season, here is a quick little fashion tip.

The “color” of the season is an exciting mix of combinations that brighten up the seasonal climate.

According to Regina Martin, global creative director of trends & innovation for HanesBrands, greens, reds and blues are currently painting the apparel landscape, with subtle shifts in color palettes for men, women and children.

For example, winter apparel for men is pairing different shades of green based on olive hues. Deep pine green featuring lilac washes add a soft, feminine touch to women’s garments. Children’s fashion is heavily focused on cargo olive, with rose, pink and purple highlights for girls and splashes of neon reflector green for boys.

Good luck with replenishing your underwear drawer.  Visit Hanes.com for numerous options.

Real Shape and Size of US Consumers

BodiData, Inc. a Silicon Valley-based technology company that specializes in generating big data on three-dimensional body measurements and Alvanon, the global apparel business expert, have signed a strategic partnership agreement that will deliver both big data and analysis on the shape and size of the diverse and complex US consumer population.

Under the terms of the agreement Alvanon will integrate BodiData's body dimension data into its own demographic database. It will give Alvanon's apparel sector analysts immediate access to the world's largest database of body measurement data of over one million North American men, women and adolescents.

Using BodiData's big data, Alvanon's apparel industry analysts, will help brands and retailers define exact body specifications for specific consumer demographics and target markets. With Alvanon's contextual insight, apparel brands will be able to update their product fit and sizing, including measurement tables, size charts, grade rules, block libraries and identify new growth opportunities for product and market development.

BodiData, has patented the only multi-sensor handheld body scanning technology for measuring fully clothed individuals. Its database was created through the largest ever North American scan program, using millimetre wave kiosk scanner booths in over 55 US malls and resulting in the largest database of US body measurements in the world with hundreds of thousands of data points for each individual.

"Where Google, Facebook and Amazon may have user interest, behaviour and transaction data, they do not have detailed data on a user's physical body," explained Tuoc Long, CEO and director of BodiData, Inc. He added that BodiData has the potential to deliver a large category of consumer data that no other company can offer. "Alvanon is the only Apparel consulting expert we will be working with in the retail apparel sector.  Its deep industry domain knowledge enables it to extract and utilize the data we collect to provide strategic consumer and market insight."

"Every brand should have a unique DNA 'fit' that is understood and can be replicated through every product and across the supply chain," said Alvanon CEO Janice Wang. "However, demographic data is just data unless it is analysed in the right context. BodiData is generating big data on US consumers and growing throughout the world. Our domain expertise will enable us to analyse and help apparel brands and retailers define their DNA fit for their target consumer population. Better fit will help apparel brands maximize sell-throughs, reduce inventory, reduce returns and ultimately improve customer loyalty."

She concluded: "The US consumer population is one of the most ethnically and size diverse on the planet, so this partnership will deliver clarity to a confused market and enable the industry to make better fitting clothing. Being able to use the database to create custom solutions for the apparel industry is hugely exciting."

About BodiData, Inc.

BodiData, Inc. believes that massive quantities of body dimension data can create transformational insights that will benefit multiple social and commercial verticals including health, wellness, apparel, security, athletics, and ergonomics. BodiData, Inc.'s. Global data platform of over one million body measurements is orders of magnitude larger than any other body dimension database. BodiData, Inc. is positioned to acquire massive amounts of body data using its newly developed, patented, handheld scanner technology that is the only handheld technology capable of acquiring body dimensions while a person is fully clothed. For more information please contact press@bodidata.com

Alvanon was founded in 2001 when it developed a unique and innovative data-driven approach to solving the challenges of sizing and fit inherent in the apparel industry. Payless Filing Chapter 11

Update: On April 4, 2017, Payless’ North American entities, as well as two foreign Hong Kong-based entities involved in logistics (CBL) and supply chain (DAL), filed voluntary Chapter 11 petitions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri to facilitate the financial and operational restructuring necessary to strengthen its balance sheet and position the Company for long-term success. Payless is also filing for recognition of the U.S. Chapter 11 proceedings under Part IV of the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

The following was posted on March 27th, 2017:

Is Payless filling Chapter 11?

Back in January, Reuters reported that Payless was trying to manage $665 million in debt and was "considering several options."  More recently, according to Bloomberg, people familiar with the matter have suggested that the struggling retailer could possibly pull the trigger on bankruptcy filing soon.  Earlier this month, a source familiar with the matter told Footwear News that Payless was expected to file for Chapter 11 protection in April.

According to their website as of today, "Payless ShoeSource is the largest specialty family footwear retailer in the Western Hemisphere, offering a trend-right and comprehensive range of everyday and special occasion shoes and accessory items at affordable prices for every member of the family."

Payless was founded in 1956, in Topeka, Kan. on a revolutionary idea – selling quality shoes at affordable prices in a self-select environment. More than 60 years later, Payless continues the self-select model combined with leading customer service to provide a fun and engaging shopping experience for its customers.

Today, Payless employs nearly 22,000 associates worldwide and is a privately held company owned by Golden Gate Capital and Blum Capital Partners.

What will tomorrow bring?

Inspired by the minimalist and surrealist movements, architecture as well as the photographic process, Boudet believes that the foundation of his artistic practice derives from the philosophical ideas of the father of photojournalism, Henri Cartier-Bresson. As Bresson states in his revolutionary novel, The Decisive Moment, “the camera performs the action of documentation, yet it is the responsibility of the human eye to capture this specific moment before it is gone forever.” Through his heightened sense of time and space in collaboration with his immaculate attention to detail, Julien Boudet is capturing what he likes to call the Decisive Fashion Moment.
