As a brand that never fails to pull all the stops, the party was the most fun, photographable, instagrammable, snapchattable pool party that Los Angeles had ever seen. ban.do and The Venue Report took over the pool at The Line Hotel with lots of pizza from famed chef Roy Choi, fun drinks, and of course a pool filled with inflatables; taking a cue from the brand's most liked Instagram post of all time, the venue was stocked full of inflatable props, both from ban.do's own outdoor fun collection and #girlspopup bestsellers like the rainbow unicorn, pineapple and watermelon.

The brand also unveiled a new swimwear line in collaboration with Cover Swim. The collection will also be available to view at Cabana during Miami Swim Week. The brand also showcased a signature summer hydrating mist by Anese Skincare in collaboration with Refinery29. Apparel Business Draws in Fashionistas

Why does everyone want to join the fashion industry?  Just because you are a fashionista it does not necessarily mean you are ready.  Seriously, you may actually not be ready…

We can’t even begin to tell you how many people wish to create an apparel business.  The number is almost mind boggling.  If someone told me that 70% of the world’s population wanted to start an apparel business, I would “almost” believe them.  OK, seventy percent is an unrealistically high percentage.  However, you get the point, and the number must be pretty high.

What is the reason for this phenomenon?

In the opinion of Apparel Search, the desire to become a fashion designer is similar to the concept behind why people want to start a restaurant.  Despite the fact that the majority of restaurants fail, there appears to be an endless supply of wanna be chef’s lining up to open new dining establishments.  Sure this is great because clothing manufacturers have the opportunity to manufacture chefs clothing, but why do all of these people think they can be a successful restaurateur.  The reason is that they love cooking and they believe that the meals that they prepare are enjoyed by all.  The problem is that cooking for your family is “way” different than managing an actual business.  Food preparation is only a small part of the business.  In regard to fashion, it is a very similar dilemma.  People are confused that their love for clothes, footwear, and style means that they are qualified to manage an apparel business.  This is simply not the case.

Having an eye for fashion and a fantastic sense of style, most certainly does not mean that you understand customs clearance documents, inventory management, and quality testing procedures.  It is critical to understand that the science of garment design, manufacturing, and distribution is more complicated than the average person would consider.

As with any business, when looking from the outside, everything often looks very easy.  The reality is that this is often not the case.

Before you decide that you want to become an emerging fashion designer and take a shot at the catwalk, take your time to learn about the fashion industry by attending a school specializing in garments & textiles.  If you think you are ready, you can further investigate explore a career in fashion.

Are you interested in becoming an emerging designer on the road to fame and fortune.  Do you want to work in the apparel business in another capacity?  If yes, most definitely give it a try.  However, before you blindly jump in, make sure to study the apparel industry first.
Let us know your thoughts in the comment area below.

Mesh-Bottom Beach Bag for Less Sand

INTRODUCING THE NEW SHAKE WOMEN’S TOTE
A Mesh-Bottom Beach Bag for More Fun, Less Sand

shake sand out

Introducing the new Shake women’s tote, a mesh-bottom beach bag for more fun and less sand. Available on Quirky.com for $39.99, Shake was invented by celebrity chef Spike Mendelsohn and Charlie Dougiello and was developed by Quirky’s online community.

Life’s a beach, but when sand gets into your bag… well, now that’s just a b*#%h. Shake totes are designed to keep your items in and the sand far away. The bags feature a reversible flap that can be pinned to either side, allowing you to reveal or conceal the netting at will. Flip the bottom flap to reveal mesh netting that keeps your beach swag in while you shake unwanted sand out. Its coated canvas repels water, its roomy interior includes a zippered pocket for valuables, and its soft plastic straps won’t slip off your shoulder.

beach tote bag

Like all Quirky products, Shake was invented and influenced by real people like you. Avid summer surfers Charlie Dougiello and Spike Mendelsohn spend a lot of time at the beach, waging a constant war against sand in their stuff. To solve this problem once and for all, they co-designed a waterproof, mesh-bottom bag—and submitted it to Quirky. They still spend plenty of time in the sand, but bring a lot less of it home with them now.

Need to Shake things up even more? Check out the rest of the line for their men’s, children’s backpack, and clutch versions.  Find more at the Quirky website at the following pages:
