Moto Boot with Soft Comfort

What is a moto boot?

Motorcycle boots are associated with motorcycle riders and range from above ankle to below knee boots. They have an outside of a typical boot but a low heel to control the motorcycle. 

Depending upon how form-fitting the boot is, to allow a rider to easily get the boot on or off, the shaft may be designed to open lengthwise. If so, Velcro or other hook-and-loop fasteners are typically used on the inner sides of the opening to allow the rider to close the boot over the foot, ankle and leg. This allows for some flexibility for the rider to control the boot's tightness. Some manufacturers also include an internal quick-lacing system between a soft inner leg and the harder outer shell of the boot shaft to further ensure a tight, but comfortable fit.

L.L. Bean Duck Boot

What is a duck boot?

An avid outdoorsman, Leon Leonwood Bean wanted to create a comfortable, dry pair of boots for tromping through the backwoods of Maine.  

The L.L. Bean signature boots are still sewn in Maine and have stood the test of time.  They keep feet remarkably warm in chilly weather thanks to Thinsulate Insulation.  The supportive steel shank and rubber chain-tread bottom provide comfort and traction.

These shoes are used as hunting shoes because they are comfortable to walk on snow and water. This shoe was first invented in 1912 by Leonwood Bean (L.L Bean).  The Duck Boot was originally referred to as the L.L. Bean Boot.

The company L.L.Bean was founded in 1912 by its namesake, avid hunter and fisherman Leon Leonwood Bean in Freeport, Maine. The company began as a one-room operation selling a single product, the Maine Hunting Shoe (aka L.L.Bean Boot).  Bean had developed a waterproof boot (a combination of lightweight leather uppers and rubber bottoms) that he sold to hunters. He obtained a list of nonresident Maine hunting license holders, prepared a descriptive mail order circular, set up a shop in his brother's basement in Freeport, Maine, and started a nationwide mail order business. By 1912, he was selling the "Bean Boot", or Maine Hunting Shoe, through a four-page mail-order catalog, and the boot remains a staple of the company's outdoor image.

In addition to the original purpose of walking in wet conditions, the duck boot has also become successful simply for its style and appearance.  The duck boot has gone in and out of fashion similar to many other styles of fashion footwear.

We are not certain how L.L. Bean first designed the boots, but some companies make the boots with the upper section of the shoes produced using water repellant fabric called duck cloth canvass and the bottom of the shoes made with a rubber sole.  The boots are intended for the rainy season or if you live in an area with a good amount of water like a duck may.

Cotton duck (from Dutch: doek, "linen canvas"), also simply duck, sometimes duck cloth or duck canvas, is a heavy, plain woven cotton fabric. Duck canvas differs from plain canvas in that the threads in the former are more tightly woven. Caterpillar Boots 2013

In 1925, C.L. Best Tractor Company joined forces with the Holt Manufacturing Company, creating a revolutionary new brand – Caterpillar. Born in Nashville, Kayla Shelton comes by her creative background honestly. At the age of 17, Shelton was a signed recording artist with both Epic Records and later to Warner Brothers Records. We don't learn something new every day, but it is nice when we do.  To be honest, I had been a bit confused but the following helps a bit.  If you are curious about the brand name you may find the following to be of interest.

In 1971, Shane Steadman registered the trademark UGH-BOOT on the Australian Trade Mark Registry, and obtained an Australian registration for UGH in 1982 (yes, that is spelled with an "H"). These registrations remained valid in Australia until removed for non-use in 2006.   Steadman sold his UGH brand boots widely in Australia throughout the 1970s and 1980s.  This registration was subsequently sold to Ugg Holdings Inc. in early 1995. In August 1995, Deckers Brands purchased Ugg Holdings, and in 1999 registered Ugg Holdings trademarks, including the UGG AUSTRALIA label (with sun-like device), in Australia. However, attempts by Deckers to stop other traders using the "UGG" mark in Australia led to a decision by IP Australia that "UGG" is a generic term in Australia and New Zealand to which Deckers did not have trade mark rights. Nevertheless, Deckers holds registrations for the UGG trademark in the United States, China and over 130 other countries.
