Tapestry to Acquire Capri Holdings

Tapestry, Inc., a house of iconic accessories and lifestyle brands consisting of Coach, Kate Spade, and Stuart Weitzman, and Capri Holdings Limited, a global fashion luxury group consisting of Versace, Jimmy Choo, and Michael Kors, today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Tapestry will acquire Capri Holdings. Under the terms of the transaction Capri Holdings shareholders will receive $57.00 per share in cash for a total enterprise value of approximately $8.5 billion.

Megan Fox was photographed wearing Marika yesterday in Los Angeles. The actress and mom looked chic and comfortable in her Flat Waist Capri Legging in Black True Tie Dye while on set to film her special appearance on New Girl ($42).

Cropped Pants or Capris

What is the difference between cropped pants & capris?  Honestly, I am not 100% certain.  In my opinion, a capri should be considered a "type" of cropped trouser.  Cropping something is the process of removing something.  Like when cropping an image, you are removing the portion of the image you don't want as part of the photo.  In a similar way, cropping pants is taking away portion of the unwanted leg length of the pant.  If that is the case, the capri has had fabric length cropped from the leg length and is therefore a type of cropped pant.

Taking this a step further, let's keep in mind that many people define a cropped pant as an ankle length pant.  But how can people say it is ankle length when other types of "cropped" pants are shorter.  For example, the capri is typically mid-calf length.

Anyway, it is actually very confusing.  Or is it only me that is confused?

Capri Pant Inventor Sonja De Lennart

Have you ever wondered, "who invented the capri pant?"

2015 will be the 70th anniversary of the world famous Capri pants, invented by fashion icon Sonja De Lennart.

In years where women were not allowed to wear Pants or anything sexy, where Harrods did not let women enter the store in pants, a German designer, Sonja de Lennart, had a dream, Freedom for women to dress sexy.

She is one of the few fashion designer who made History.

In 2013, she starred in the zombie love story, Warm Bodies, and the romantic war film, Love and Honor, opposite Liam Hemsworth.

Nordstrom IVY PARK

Nordstrom, Inc. announced the arrival of IVY PARK on April 14, 2016.  Ivy Park is a new activewear line for women.  Co-founded by Beyoncé and Sir Philip Green, the brand launched at 54 Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com.

IVY PARK design unifies fashion and performance. The leggings appear in three lengths, the capri, which falls just under the knee; the crop, which falls on the calf; and the full length, which reaches the ankle. Each pant comes in three shapes: the I, the V and the Y, which corresponds with low rise, midrise and high rise fit, respectively.

The core of the collection is bolstered by ‘second skin’ signature pieces, including fitted tank tops with concealed, built-in sports bras, bonded, v-band structured medium impact sports bras, seamless knits and body suits. The line also features logo sweatshirts, cotton jersey tanks and tees, basketball mesh over-sized T-shirts and tank tops that appear in both black and white.

IVY PARK merchandise sold at Nordstrom ranges in price from $14 for a headband to $265 for a body suit.

Nordstrom has been the retail partner of choice for brands such as Topshop, Topman and Madewell, which have exclusive U.S. distribution through the retailer.

Beyoncé has hit a home run with this activewear collection.  Attractive, stylish, trendy... Very impressive.

The "I" the "V" and the "Y" each correlate to a different rise in the legging. Make sure to get the one that is the proper fit for your body.  If you are not familiar with the meaning of a pant rise, you may want to view clothing measurements page here on Apparel Search.  That page discusses a little bit about the front rise and rear rise of pants.  Regarding the exact rise & measurement method for the IVY leggings, you should consult with Nordstrom or the manufacturer of the brand.
