Junk Food Art House Event

Junk Food Clothing celebrates New York City’s largest art week by unveiling their latest artistic collections from their premium Junk Food Art House brand.

On Wednesday, March 5th, from 6pm - 7:30pm, Junk Food will host a private event showcasing their series of t-shirts with graphics from avant garde artists including the late neo-expressionist artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and muralist Keith Haring, along with musical performance by Lily Lane. The cocktail event will be appropriately located in the historic lobby of the Carlton hotel, a popular gathering place for New York artists in the 1920s, and will be feature exploded art and images from Junk Food’s Spring 2014 catalog.  Carlton is also home to Caravan Stylist Studio which runs a program to help introduce emerging designers to talent and is a catalyst for an assortment of events throughout the year at the hotel.

Mike Palermo, Creative Director of Junk Food Clothing Co. says, "From its roots, Junk Food has always considered itself an Art House.  We fill our building with incredibly talented artists and our canvas is a t-shirt.  We are excited to share our canvas with some of the most influential artists of our time to tell their stories and emphasize our passion to our craft."

Models will also be on display, wearing various designs as walking art installations.  Guests at this intimate event will be treated to a performance by the breakout pop fusion singer/songwriter, Lily Lane, whose hit “Nothin’ But Trouble” has been featured numerous times throughout the fourth season of ABC Family series Pretty Little Liars.

Junk Food Art House highlights creative initiatives spanning art, film and fashion. With its pulse on creative content from around the globe, art is and always has been at the heart of Junk Food. Highlighting the brand’s creative ingenuity and original core values, Junk Food Art House engages the art community through a carefully-curated program of creative initiatives spanning art, film and fashion. Presenting a unique approach to the concept of artist collaborations, Junk Food Art House celebrates well-established names as well as rising talent through limited-edition product releases, innovative pop-up spaces, special events and unique partnerships.

Artestar is an international brand licensing and consulting company that specializes in creating market opportunities through consumer product, retail, advertising and promotional campaigns. The company has over 20 years of experience representing internationally renowned artists and designers including Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Robert Mapplethorpe, Maripol, Ryan McGinness and Patricia Field. Based in New York, Artestar has affiliate offices in Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Brazil, South Korea and Japan.

Lily Lane is a singer and songwriter based in New York City. This 22 year olds music mixes classic Hollywood with grungy downtown Manhattan style. In January 2014 she released her first EP, and has seen great success with her hit song ‘Nothin’ But Trouble’, which has become a favorite and regular addition to the ABC family show Pretty Little Liars series. Evoking the greats like Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and some of her modern day inspirations like Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone and Lana Del Ray, Lily’s enchanting sound and gorgeous looks set her apart from the rest. With her 5’10” frame paired with her edgy-scene-stealing music, she is sure to become one of fashion’s newest darlings in the scene.

The idea of Caravan Stylist Studio started when Claudine DeSola realized how the talents’ relationship with designers could be more meaningful.  She wanted to create a place where proper introductions to new designers and products could happen. A perfect example of kismet is when an actress wears a dress to an event, falls in love with that designer’s clothing and then attends their fashion show.  It is a way that love of fashion can be full circle.

The Carlton, an Autograph Collection hotel, blends old world luxury and Beaux-Arts flourishes, with stylish modernism. The Carlton hotel is managed by Gemstone Hotels & Resorts, LLC, and features one of the city’s most beautiful hotel lobbies. The vaulted ceilings, marbled floors, floor-to-ceiling suede paneled walls; soothing waterfall and rich mahogany frame the lobby. Originally designed by Harry Allen Jacobs, and completed in 1904 as The Seville Hotel, the Carlton serves as a historic reminder of New York’s elegant past.  An inspired fusion of old-world elegance with distinct contemporary energy and glamour, the century-old Carlton’s blend of historic and modern design perfectly captures the city’s spirit. The Carlton is the second New York City hotel to join the Autograph Collection, a growing ensemble of hotels selected for their distinctive style and ability to provide exclusive experiences to guests. Millesime, deriving from the French word for vintage, is the new restaurant in the Carlton Hotel. An organic collaboration not just by namesake, Millesime is built within the historically landmarked details known in the space, including the exquisite 1904 Tiffany-style glass dome skylight and the extraordinary mosaic floor. Millesime, accessible from the Carlton hotel’s lobby, exists on two floors and offers a menu which draws its inspiration from the classic seafood dishes found throughout France complimented by a variety of specialty cocktails.
