Fashion stories include:
Trash Fashion - pg 152 -
Ripley's staged a "Trashy Fashion Show" in March 2012 with the entrants creating imaginative
dresses from discarded items such as magazines, bottle caps, grocery bags, paper cups,
trading cards, snack wrappers and even an old shower curtain. All three winning designs were acquired for display at its
Ripley's Odditorium in St. Augustine, Florida.
Roadkill Fashion - pg 137-
Fashion designer Jess Eaton from Brighton, England, created a range of wedding clothes from roadkill, including a
bridal cape made from swans' feathers. She also made a necklace out of human bones after sourcing a
ribcage from a university medical department.
Expensive clothes - pg 136 -
U.S. designer Susan Rosen and Steinmetz Diamonds created a bikini that used 150
carats of flawless diamonds set in platinum and had no fabric. Tiger Woods was
rumored to have it in 2010. Price $30 million.
Hair Coat - pg 128 - British
firm Arla commissioned the creation of a coat made entirely from men's chest
hair. It took designers 200 hours to weave together about one million strands of
hair. The limited-edition coat went on sale for $4,000.
Rose Petal Dress - pg 148 - Xiao
Fan arranged for 9,999 roses to be made into a flowing gown before making a
Valentine's Day proposal to girlfriend Yin Mi at the Guangzhou, China, amusement
park where they had first met three years earlier. The gown had a 5-ft-long
train made from individually stitched blooms. The number of roses used to make
the dress was also symbolic, as the number nine in Chinese culture represents
