Each year, fashion insiders along with influencers and celebrities congregate to see the latest styles and products for next season. Always known for their exciting lineup, this year’s MAGIC is no different.
If you work in the fashion industry, we assume you are attending this seasons trade show in Vegas. To assist with your show schedule, we are sharing below the top 10 happenings taking place at MAGIC inside the Las Vegas Convention Center (August 15-17, 2016).
AVANT GARDE SHOES
BY LEGENDARY ROCKSTAR SHOE DESIGNER
Shoe designer Chris Francis, will be bringing his L.A. workshop to Sin City! Unlike other brands
on-site, he won’t simply showcase next season’s styles (though he will showcase
a few already made styles); instead he plans to bring a portion of his L.A.
workshop onto the show floor and will be designing and creating shoes
on-site! Known for his avant-garde style, Chris Francis’ designs have been
seen on the likes of rock stars such as Mötley
Crüe’s Mick Mars, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, and former Runaways guitarist
Lita Ford.
‘HOLD ON’ FOR WILSON
PHILLIPS
On Monday, August
15th, the beloved vocal group will perform during FN PLATFORM’s
opening night party in the FN Café from 6pm to 7pm.
MR. LAS VEGAS WALKS INTO
MAGIC
Perhaps one of the
best known entertainers in Las Vegas, Wayne Newton will make a guest appearance
at FN PLATFORM on Tuesday, August 16th. Located in the Donald J. Pliner
booth, Newton will be on-hand from 2pm to 3pm.
HOLLYWOOD COSTUME DESIGNERS CELEBRATE
FASHION
Costume designers for
some of TV’s hottest shows will host a seminar to tell the story of how they
create characters, use trends and integrate your favorite brands onto these
shows. Panelists include Emmy-nominated, Rita McGhee of Empire, Diane
Crooke of Parenthood and Tiffany Hasbourne of HBO’s Baller’s.
Their panel will take place Wednesday, August 17th at 11am
in the SOURCING Community Lounge.
IT’S A 3-D WORLD IN WEARABLE
TECHNOLOGY
The Wearable
Technology area of SOURCING will feature everything from 3-D printing to
invisible technologies. Check out the latest and greatest in the futuristic
market – and be sure to see the first anti-pollution fashion scarf!
EMERGING DESIGNER SHOWCASE
Take a peek at the
designers of tomorrow! Emerging designers will showcase their latest styles
while participating in the Crème de la Crème contest. The winner will receive a
round-trip ticket to Paris, accommodating and a meet-and-greet with buyers at
Galeries LaFayette.
GET SOCIAL: WWD SOCIAL HOUSE
Influential fashion bloggers will share insight on
several social topics. Get to know the ladies (and gents!) that often star your
Instagram feeds. Bloggers will include: SwellMayde, Haus of Color, Styled by
Noir, Studs & Sapphires, Parker York Smith and Ty Severe. Panels
will be hosted by WWD Fashion Editor, Alex Badia.
PAMPERED TO PERFECTION
MAGIC knows just how tiring the 3-day show can be. Soothe your soles and prep for a night out by taking advantage of some amazing pampering opportunities. FN PLATFORM will be offering complimentary foot massages sponsored by Foot Petals all 3-days of the show from 11am to 6pm in the ZEN Lounge. GlamSquad is also returning to provide complimentary hair and makeup touchups in the Cosmo Lounge.
BACK2SCHOOL WITH PROJECT SOLE
FN PLATFORM is
partnering up with Project Sole again to give back to local kids in need. On
Monday, August 15th, Project Sole will host an event at the
Andre Agassi Boys & Girls Club (800 N MLK Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89106). Over
1,500 kids from all chapters of Boys & Girls Club Las Vegas will be on hand
to receive shoes, apparel, hats and backpacks for back to school. Participating
brands from FN PLATFORM include: Timberland, Triple T Trading, KEEN, Jansport,
Adidas, BBC International and Creative Recreation.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
Never one for a
shortage on continued education, MAGIC will host several educational panels and
seminars each day across each of its shows. Don’t miss some of the winning
speakers this year, including executives from industry leaders such as Levi’s,
Eileen Fisher and Under Armor. Panels and seminars are free for show
attendees.
