Giza 45 Luxury Egyptian Cotton

Ayman and Tamer Nassar are spearheading the luxury Egyptian cotton industry as textile leaders on a micro and macro level.  Up until the mid-90s’, the private sector was prohibited from trading and exporting Egyptian cotton. Immediately following the liberalization of Egyptian cotton in 1994, the Nassar brothers co-founded Nassco Trading SAE and began purchasing Giza 45 and exporting it as raw cotton in 1995, quickly becoming one of Egypt’s leading cotton exporters.  By 1996, Ayman Nassar was known as a cotton-classing expert certified by the Cotton Arbitration and Testing General Organization (CATGO).

After standing as one of the booming private leaders in the Egyptian cotton industry for many years, the brothers then went on to co-found Setcore Spinning SAE in 2003, thereby creating one of Egypt’s first privately owned spinning mills with a focus on fine count yarns used primarily in the European weaving and knitting markets.

Knowing that the world’s finest strand of cotton would face a demise in production, the Nassar brothers purchased 90+% of the world’s available supply of Giza 45 over a two year period (2005-2007).  A high-stake ownership of the Giza 45 cotton ensures that their company Setcore has close to 100% of the supply and traceability. This decision they felt was a once in a lifetime opportunity to procure the last remaining stocks of this unique and highly sought after material, giving them a tremendous advantage in the luxury fashion and textiles market. As the worlds finest cotton material, Giza 45 is sold to European fabric knitters and weavers such as Testa, Albini, and Arula.

Today, most major high-end shirting brands such as Brioni, Kiton, Ascot Chang, Chavet, Brunello Cucinelli, and top-of-the-line bespoke shirt makers in Europe, the US and Asia use Giza 45.

Setcore Group is a privately held enterprise based in Cairo, Egypt.  Establishedin 1972, the group is active in textiles and oilfield services.

Setcore’s wholly owned subsidiary, Nassco Trading S.A.E., has become one of thelargest suppliers of Egyptian cotton to world markets since its inception in 1995.
