Online inclusive size clothing retailer Hey Gorgeous! just launched the first pieces in its original eponymous clothing line, designed using feedback from hundreds of the company’s diehard customers. The exclusive set of essentials marks the brand’s first foray into the private label arena, following its newsworthy Fall 2015 NYC showroom unveiling and several years of growth and brand building as a startup e-boutique bringing expertly curated fashion to women sizes 10 and up. 

While the greater fashion industry has made strides to better represent and design for the over 20-billion-dollar plus-size market in the last few years, there still remains an overwhelming lack of attention (or ignorance) to what this customer not only wants, but needs. She certainly has more destinations to shop for stylish, trend-forward clothing, but seemingly has trouble assembling a well-rounded, all-occasions wardrobe. This unsung reality has proven to be a major sticky point for Hey Gorgeous! founder and proprietress, Aimee Cheshire, even as she surveys the plethora of extended sizing brands she on boards for her own site.    

From inception, Hey Gorgeous! has heralded high touch and quality, inclusively-sized clothing from numerous brands including mainstream labels like Rachel Pally and BB Dakota, as well as up-and-coming indie designers like PLY and Shegul. The handpicked selection of day-to-night dresses, blouses+bottoms, accessories, and outerwear showcases tremendous versatility and cream-of-the-crop selection, but loyalist Hey Gorgeous! shoppers are eager for more casual choices to suit work and play settings simultaneously. With her customers’ musings top of mind, as well as her personal frustrations with the available options in the market, Cheshire chose tees to launch the company’s original clothing line.  

“We are in a unique and leverageable position at Hey Gorgeous! We have worked with so many amazing, full-spectrum-sized brands that bring elevated fashion and fresh perspectives to the curvier community, but NONE make a classic tee,” said Aimee. “We are asking our customers to discover their individual style, to play with style possibilities, but the process becomes so much harder when they realize that a valuable staple of their wardrobe is missing.” 

In the mainstream fashion world, it is easy to take such a simple piece of fashion for granted, with there so many options, cuts and colors to choose from. Though, for women sizes 10 and up, the shirts are usually over-designed: embroidered, sequined, or printed to the point of distraction, likening them to novelty fast fashion clothing to be worn once before dismissing. The pioneering suite of essential tees from Hey Gorgeous!, however, will transcend what is typical for plus-size offerings in the category and give customers a true foundational basic tee that they will reach for day after day, for seasons to come. 

The suite of essential tees will be available for purchase starting on June 16th, exclusively at HeyGorgeous.com The Essential collection boasts v-necks and crewnecks in long and short sleeves and a simple range of colourways, including black, white and a “color of the season,” starting with a Champagne Pink. All styles feature flexible side splits that allow for easy tucking and create room for fuller hips. A slight a-line shape lets the tee drape over the figure without looking too fitted or oversized. The tees are made of a super-luxe rayon spandex blend allowing them to be silky soft yet breathable with the perfect amount of stretch and recovery and do not shrink, pill or require special laundering.Tee length is the perfect length to go below the hips, but above the upper thigh, for maximum flattery and versatility, making it easy to wear tucked in or left out.
