Fall Fiber Fiesta 2017

Fall Fiber Fiesta 2017 is the fifth annual show organized by the Española Valley Fiber Arts Center that provides exposure to a broad range of traditional and contemporary handmade fiber artwork. This year the show will again take place at the Scottish Rite Temple in Santa Fe on Saturday and Sunday November 18–19, 2017. This is the largest show in Santa Fe exclusively dedicated to handmade creations of New Mexico’s Fiber Artists.

In theory, social media coordinators are critical to fashion business success in the modern world.  Getting your brand published in a trade newspaper or fashion magazine is only half the battle.  In the age of the internet, social media is equally or more critical.

Social media in the fashion industry refers to how brands in the named sector connect with their target market through social media outlets such as Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube.

There's no avoiding it: social media has become not simply a hobby.  It's part of our everyday lives, including being a important part of some of our jobs.

Here is an example of a relevant career move at the Theory fashion brand.

Theory has hired Erin Reimel as Social Media Coordinator. Erin was formerly Beauty Assistant at Glamour and will continue to write freelance alongside her new role.  When I first started in the industry their was no such thing as a social media coordinator (yes, I am too old).

When researching general information where do you turn?  Google & Bing are obvious first choices if you plan on finding answers to your questions online. 
However, what if your questions are continuously on a specific subject.  Do you possibly have a favorite resource that specializes on that particular subject.  If you know your question is specifically regarding clothing, shoes, textiles, etc., where do you begin your search.  To be honest, you probably still turn to Google or Bing (that is where I go first also).  

Where does the Google & Bing website usually take us when we enter a search that is of relevance specifically to fashion?  

Well, this changes from time to time because both of those companies are continuously attempting to improve search results.  Algorithms and optimization is a continues game for the search engines.  Therefore, the search results for a particular query change continuously.

Not always, but the search engines often direct us to fashion magazine websites.  For example, you may be led to fashion magazines such as Vogue, InStyle, Marie Claire, or GQ.  Or you may be taken to women's fashion sites such as WWD or websites such as Refinery 29.

Fortunately, Bing & Google will also guide members of the apparel industry and consumers to industry specific websites such as the one you are reading now (ApparelSearch.com).
