The NINES 2014 Holiday Collection

The FIRST images of the NINES 2014 Holiday Collection

NINES is the creation of designer Alana Hale. Fresh out of design school in 2008, she launched a couture inspired concept line creating one of-a-kind pieces for celebrity stylists and fashion editorials. Craving a more personal avenue, Alana sought to bridge the gap between her avant-garde design roots and laidback LA lifestyle. Ushering in a new era of effortless luxe, NINES was born.

Tranoï New York 2016 Fashion Brands

TRANOÏ has informed us that they are thrilled to welcome the following brands to The Tunnel for the first time at Tranoï New York during NYC market week.

Brandon Sun

Brandon Sun
New York-based luxury fur outwear and ready-to-wear label, Brandon Sun will debut at Tranoï New York with a collection that amplifies the signature cool girl aesthetic in a display of slick hardware, punk inspired studding, and insouciant furs. Entitled “Mnemosyne”, the collection finds inspiration amongst the post-punk influenced subcultures of London during the 1970s. Iconic rock bands, such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, and their motivation are resoundingly parallel to our own disaffected youth.

“Mnemosyne” rebels against normalcy – it is the insistence of individuality and independence. Brandon Sun captures this through a collage of mink – shredded, printed, and deconstructed; luxurious navy dyed Russian sable; ultra cozy merino shearling and silky lamb fur. The uniquely singular approach to fur by Brandon Sun is the translation of intellectually avant-garde concepts into tangible pieces for real life.

Byronesque

Byronesque
Byronesque, the leading authority in contemporary- vintage fashion and subculture has teamed up with Life in Perfect Disorder to create a limited edition collection of premium vintage T-shirts featuring a dream team of designers. This collection is an anti-fast fashion homage to vintage designers from 20 years ago or more who changed the course of fashion for the better; from the likes of the Antwerp Six, Yamamoto, Westwood to Montana or Kawakubo to name a few. The hard-to-find t-shirts have been carefully sourced by one of Byronesque’s vintage specialist partners, Patrick Matamoros of Chapel NYC. The designs capture the iconic history of each designer in more detail. A portion of sales will be donated towards a fashion student’s graduate show to encourage the next generation of designers to be as imaginative as our fashion heroes. Attendees won’t be able to miss this presentation right at the entrance of Tranoï New York and will even have the chance to get captured in the designer T-shirt of their choice.

Katie Gallagher

Katie Gallagher
Katie Gallagher is celebrated for her attention to detail, superior craftsmanship, and creativity. This Fall/Winter 2016 she debuts at Tranoï New York with her second all-black collection entitled “Veiled”, in which she combines bold leather jackets and military inspired trousers with delicate lace, cashmere, rompers and long slitted silk skirts. Gallagher is inspired by black, the hue that has no hue. Secretive, unknown, mysterious. Black, the darkest color yet the color with no color at all, represents both full absorption and complete absence of light, evil and elegance, beginning and end, a completed cycle.

Gallagher’s monochromatic collection relies heavily on textures and subtle details, featuring elements of gothic architecture, stained glass, and Harry Clarke illustrations. Recalling her initial and first all black collection of Spring Summer 2010, Gallagher’s latest collection includes reworked pieces from SS 2010, completing her line’s cycle. Stained glass-inspired lace textures and hairpieces recall cathedral elements, graveyards, and old Catholic rituals. Gallagher pairs twisted seams and twill tape with velvet ribbons and zippers, defining her Fall/Winter 2016 collection.

WHAT: Wore ENFANTS RICHES DÉPRIMÉS t-shirt

WHEN: August 25, 2013

ABOUT ENFANTS RICHES DÉPRIMÉS :

Enfants Riches Déprimés is an Avant garde fashion collective based out of downtown Los Angeles and Paris. Enfants was started in late 2012 by designer Henri Alexander in an effort to create a French-punk street wear line based on the movements of the late seventies and Japanese Avant garde movements of the 80’s.  Relying heavily on concepts of deconstruction and “DIY”, Enfants riches Déprimés revolts against the luxurious fashion world with garments of oversized proportions with seams and hems on the outside. Fusing tailored men’s wear with oversized ripped torsos the line depicts an interesting dichotomy between couture and street life.

Q&A with Shoe Architect Chris Francis

FN PLATFORM is just around the corner and the organizers have some exciting new happenings on the show floor this year! One example is first-time exhibitor, shoe designer Chris Francis. Unlike other brands on-site, he won’t simply showcase next season’s styles (though he will showcase a few already made styles); instead he plans to bring a portion of his L.A. workshop onto the show floor and will be designing and creating shoes on-site! Known for his avant-garde style, Chris Francis’ designs have been seen on the likes of rock stars such as Mötley Crüe’s Mick Mars, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, and former Runaways guitarist Lita Ford.
Chris Francis Shoes

FN Platfrom had a chance to chat with the carpenter turned shoe artist about his upcoming exhibit and how his journey began.

Q&A with Shoe Designer, Chris Francis:

Your creations are seen as not only a fashion statement, but amazing works of art. How did you start designing shoes in the first place?

I started making shoes in 2011 after attending a party at Louis Vuitton where a guest maker from France was hand sewing men’s shoe soles.  I had always been very fascinated by shoes and seeing that they could be made by hand really inspired me. I attempted to make shoes the next day and had a wearable pair made by the end of the week. I was making all of the shoes in the kitchen back then and rapidly progressed; by the end of that year I had outgrown the kitchen and began making shoes professionally. It was hard in the beginning, shoemaking schools were seemingly nonexistent and internships were not offered, so I taught myself. I met with the few old shoe makers and repairmen left in Los Angeles, while searching for tools and machines. While none of them had time to give me an internship, everyone was able to answer one or two questions. I ended up learning tricks-of-the-trae from all over the world.

For me that experience was amazing, it was so well rounded! One day I was learning a glue recipe from Russia, maybe the next I was learning how to cut a ladies shoe sole the way it is done in Iran. I even worked for a great maker where all day I made and repaired shoes for Hollywood stars and at night I could sometimes see my shoes on TV!   I think that a big part of the reason that I succeeded as a self-taught maker is that I had no inhibition or any reason to believe that I couldn't make shoes. I also think the lack of formal training is part of the reason that I don't adhere to one specific style of shoemaking. Instead, I make all styles and I have always been an artist, so the shoe naturally became a means of artistic expression for me.

Where do you get your inspiration for the next design?

Inspiration can come from anywhere, I have a very broad range of interests and a very open mind to developing more interests! The last three collections have been quite architectural but at any moment I could shift the aesthetic towards something completely opposite. I don't like to limit myself to any one style or idea so it's not uncommon for me to make a design one day that looks like it came from out of the Bauhaus while the next pair I'm making a 70's style Platform boot for a customer. I like to have fun and be creative, the shoe is no different for me than a canvas is to a painter or a block of marble is to a sculptor. Shoes are my chosen mode of expression. Inspiration could be from a song, a moment in life, a building – my designs are whatever I feel like making.

Do you have any favorites brands or artists that particularly inspire you?

My favorite living artist right now is Thomas Heatherwick. I attended his exhibition six times at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles! I'd like to meet Tom Ford one day, I have always found him inspiring. My favorite designers are the ones that offer something new, something original to design that reflects who they are, and also the ones that can pull off simplicity while still arriving at iconic design! On one end of the spectrum my taste is very avant-garde
but there is big part of me that loves simplicity and ultimate wearability accompanied by sophisticated design.

Tell us a bit about what you’ll be doing at FN PLATFORM this August 2016?

I'll be relocating a portion of my Los Angeles workshop to FN PLATFORM along with some of my designs. My shoes are made entirely in my workshop. Almost all of my heels are hand-carved and most of my leather is hand-painted and hand-dyed. All of my shoes are made from scratch, mostly by hand or on postwar and prewar 20th Century machines. I'll be making shoes during the convention, which will be a lot of fun!

How did you get involved with FN PLATFORM? Why?

I have Gene Burten to thank, he believed in my work enough to put it to the attention of FN PLATFORM! I am very honored to be featured this year, I think it's a rare opportunity for a maker on the custom scale. FN PLATFORM is something I have always aspired to attend but lacked the production means to justify, so it’s an amazing opportunity for me to be invited as a guest artist!  We came up with the concept of moving the shop to Las Vegas for the convention to celebrate the small shoe shop and the importance of production on the small scale as well as on the large scale.  I think it's important in an age of high volume mass production to also preserve the small in-house designers and makers.  So many samples that lead to mass production are made in shops like mine. Ideas are capable of happening on my scale that can't always happen on the large production scale. One of a kind runway pieces are made by hand, couture pieces, museum pieces and art pieces are all happening in garage shops and workshop studios that are even more humble than mine.  It's amazing to be able to take the garage workshop and move it to FN PLATFORM to greet a new audience and hopefully this will open the door for other artists in the future!

You don’t follow the traditional wholesale model – so how will that translate onto the FN PLATFORM show floor which typically has brands wholesaling to retailers?

I think it will be something new and fun! I'm not wholesale but I am absolutely part of the market. I make shoes professionally every day and my shoes are in the same price points as the high fashion houses which puts me in a very niche market. I had to create my own market because as a custom maker, I couldn't compete with mass production. It didn't make sense for me to make shoes that looked like ones already available in the market because those designs were so attached to the economy and the price point that mass production can offer. My designs had to stand out in order to justify their existence and their price.

I think that the fact that I make everything in house and by hand might translate really well and also that I am not opposed to selling to retailers will somewhat eliminate any idea of separation. I plan to continue attending FN PLATFORM and in the future have a body of designs available for retailers, that production level just hasn't been within my reach yet. The shop has never had an outside investor, it’s been built by dedication to a vision, but there is no shortage of designs or the ability to create them and there is no inhibition to grow!  I think relocating the shop translates in a very positive way even outside of FN PLATFORM because it shows that by hard work and dedication, one can still start in a kitchen and see their vision realized on a much broader scale.

Can you tell us a bit about your 6-month residency at the Miracle Mile Craft & Folk Art Museum?

I had a solo exhibition at the Craft & Folk Art Museum which featured over forty pairs of my shoes, each pair being a unique design. We couldn't get any of my shoes on loan due to them being owned by performers, so I created the entire body of work for the CAFAM exhibition in one year!  I asked the museum if we could move the shoe shop in to the front window during the exhibition as an installation and functioning shoe shop, and the museum was all for it!  Having the shop in the museum went over so well that the original three month duration was extended to six months! I made shoes every day in the museum while people watched and engaged with the craft and art of shoemaking, it was a lot of fun!  After the CAFAM exhibition I moved a portion of the shop to the Palm Springs Art Museum where I made shoes during the Killer Heels Exhibition and exhibited designs in conjunction with Killer Heels. Most recently I exhibited my Brutalist collection at the Architecture + Design museum in Los Angeles and moved a portion of the shop in for a residency, during which I made boots.  I'll be displaying select pairs from all three exhibitions at FN PLATFORM this August!

You’ve often described your approach to making shoes like a carpenter. What is it about that approach that elevates your pieces as opposed to other designers who may be using technology?

I was a carpenter for years and even worked as a carpenter in the high fashion house stores. My final job as a carpenter ironically was at Louis Vuitton and I was able to keep pieces of the marble floor where I had first seen the maker from France sewing shoes! I make shoes quite architecturally due to this background. My pieces are very unique because they reflect my personality and my interests and they are made by my own hands, which in my opinion makes the shoes stand out over some technology but technology has the production advantage over me! I find that there are designers out there turning technology into a mode of art and expression that is in no fundamental way different than my way of using my hands and machines as tools to aid my expression.  Art and design have no boundaries and there are no right or wrong ways to arrive at creative expression therefore I respect and admire technology, and value it as a valid medium in which to create beautiful art in the 21st century. I don't have access to technology yet, but when I do I will use it to its full artistic potential and I believe that mass production can be a beautiful art form when done with artistic intention! I am modern, my mind and imagination are both modern, it is only my machines that are old!

Quinn: A contemporary Knitwear Apparel Brand

This Fall/Winter 2015 season, introduce yourself to Quinn: A contemporary knitwear apparel brand for both women and men. Since opening up shop in New York City, Quinn continues to design high-quality and functional products in silk, leather, cashmere, fur and cotton materials for affordable prices. From classic cashmere sweaters and fur vests, to leather-detailed joggers and silk bodycon dresses, they bring you lived-in-luxe essentials for the upcoming season.
Quinn contemporary women's knitwear
Composed of youthful minds, intelligent industry vets and even an Aussie-based designer, their team comes together to bring a new level of insight to contemporary fashion. Beginning in Women’s clothing, the Quinn team went on to launch a sports and knitwear apparel line in the Fall of 2013, and just one year later expanded the brand into Menswear. Since their emergence, they have gained a heavy social media presence and a super-cool, unique persona that resonates closely with the everyday modern man and woman.  They design for the avant-garde shopper who doesn't try to be anything they aren't, the ones who mix-and match as they please and keep fun a priority in life. Gaining inspiration from the artistry of old world architecture, our designers offer minimalist designs that resemble geometric columns and stained-glass windows. Making something that takes immense creativity seem so utterly effortless; that is art. Thriving off that same creative mindset, they continue to evolve with modernized fashion.
Quinn contemporary men's knitwear
Offering a fresh perspective on old style designs, they reinterpret tired stitching techniques and cable knits into something progressive, yet simple. The smallest details make all the difference; hence the utility of high-end fabrics used in each and every one of their pieces. A quintessential Quinn piece? The Kendall Cape. One of their most popular knits, this poncho sweater represents how they bring together timeless elements with modernized style. Guys, they didn't forget about you. For the men, take on your day in Dax twill pants, slip-ons and the comfortable silk cotton Jasper button-up. They put their focus on creating apparel with impeccable fit and durability, all while keeping you casually cool day-in and day-out.

STRÖM Brand Contemporary Fashion

Swedish model turned designer Erika Strömqvists' denim based contemporary collection brand, STRÖM, is poised to revolutionize the premium denim market as we know it.  Drawing inspiration from her Swedish roots, Strömqvist has managed to strike a chord with diehard denim devotees by designing timeless, sophisticated, streamlined jeans. After years of working with renowned designers such as Nicolas Ghesquiere and Ann Demeulemeester, Strömqvist applied her extensive knowledge of design and fit to create a premium denim collection that focuses on feeling and looking good, without trying too hard.

STRÖM

Launched in early 2013 to much acclaim, Strömqvist's subsequent collections have managed to evolve every season, while staying true to the core ideals of her brand. She consistently churns out fresh and innovative designs that keep her denim enthusiasts engaged and coming back for more.  Her latest Spring/Summer 2014 collection features updated washes of her best selling styles, the Tio Skinny and Nio High-Rise Skinny, even more Selvedge Denim styles, and the brand's signature style, The Poppy, a skinny silhouette with a long folded cuff that gives the illusion of an elongated leg.  Exciting new additions to the collection include their first ever short, the Kort, a high waisted, distressed cut-off and the launch of their Atelje Collection. This capsule consists of a series of ready to wear pieces that include The Tofs Selvedge dress, The Ouzo skort and the intricate Zappa Denim Vest.

The collection continues to evolve for Fall 2014 as STRÖM Brand focuses on expanding both their core and avant-garde Atelje Collection, which includes couture-quality tops in modal and Japanese Indigo knits, new interpretations of the denim jacket like the Oryx Eisenhower Jacket, and the beautifully heroic Elan Parka Jacket featuring mink cashmere. The line will also include bold yet beautiful bottoms including the Poppy Selvedge, the Liger Trumpet Pant, and Moco Skirt/Pant.  The fall campaign, shot by Julian LeBallister is sure to be a game changer in the denim market as supermodel Kirsi Pyrhonen graces the line with her 6'1" frame to further propel the stunning collection into front runner in the fashion forward contemporary world.

Attention to detail is Strömqvist's trademark and is evident throughout the entire collection as she has worked with the best in the fashion and design industry to curate a collection that connoisseurs can appreciate.  Strömqvist's goal is to "raise the bar in women's premium denim and create the jeans that all of the women she was surrounded by in the fashion industry were screaming for - STRÖM is not just another denim brand." STRÖM Brand is currently available at specialty boutiques nationwide and will launch its own e-commerce store at the end of this month. The collection ranges from ($169-$1,430; www.STRÖMbrand.com).

CHOPARD

CHOPARD | L.U.C 1937 Classic

For Chopard's 150th anniversary in 2010, the Manufacture introduced a limited edition of the L.U.C 1937 model, a mechanical tribute to the horological heritage of the House. This timepiece firmly anchored in the tradition of classic, timeless watches, now returns in an 18K rose gold version with a satin-brushed silver-tone dial. At the heart of the case that has been subtly redesigned and refined while remaining true to the original spirit, beats the Chopard Manufacture L.U.C 01.01-L calibre, a high-performing mechanical gem chronometer-certified by the COSC.  More about Chopard.

Revelation

REVELATION | R04 Tourbillon Magical Watch Dial®

Rarely has a brand so fully lived up to its name. A single concept underlies each Revelation watch: that of a dial that reveals all or casts a veil of mystery. The wearer decides. Thanks to its patented Magical Watch Dial®, the R04 Tourbillon transforms a black dial into a translucent dial simply by rotating the bezel, inviting the watch to display its two distinct personalities: a traditional or a skeleton configuration. When the secret is revealed, the spectacular Tourbillon Manège® movement dominates the centre of the dial, pivoting on the central axis of this imposing, 45 mm timepiece. Discreetly subdued or strikingly avant-garde, this authentic creation is also available with a flyback chronograph movement.

The brand REVELATION is one of the most innovative and exclusive in the market today thanks to its original concept “Magical Watch Dial®”. The watch company is located in the village of Lully-sur-Morges, between Geneva and Le Brassus, in the heart of the vineyards. Anouk Danthe & Olivier Leu, industrial designers in the watch industry, a couple united both in private life and professionally, founded the company on the 31st of January 2007. Anouk Danthe has exercised her art in some of the best fine watchmaking Manufactures, while Olivier Leu has cooperated with many prestigious brands as an external designer. They founded their own brand in order to develop and produce two of their own original creations in the watchmaking world: the tailor-made movement “Tourbillon Manège®” and the optical mechanism “Revelation System®”. Nearly four years were necessary for the development of these two ambitious and complex projects. Finally, the first historical model of the brand: R01 DOUBLE COMPLICATION comes to life.

ULYSSE NARDIN

ULYSSE NARDIN | Dual Time Manufacture

The Dual Time Manufacture set a milestone in contemporary watchmaking when launched, as the first watch whose second time zone could be adjusted both forwards and backwards. Now this legendary timepiece returns with an automatic movement that is designed and produced entirely in-house: the UN-334 calibre. Featuring a large date, which can also be adjusted in both directions, it comes equipped with a silicon escapement, the height of watchmaking technology and something very few brands master. Offering exceptional precision, the Dual Time Manufacture also stands out for its simplicity of use and legible display. While home time is measured over 24 hours in a window at 9 o'clock, the hour hand can be moved forwards or back to align with local time, without having to take the watch off or interrupt its smooth running. In a final flourish, the date automatically synchronises with adjustments in either direction.  More about Ulysse Nardin.

Since 1846 the company has walked away with 4,300 awards, among which 18 highly coveted gold medals. Despite the temptation to rest on our laurels, to do so would be a betrayal of 150 years of unmatched ingenuity. Challenge has always been part of the Ulysse Nardin philosophy. When a group of friends and I acquired this cornerstone of the Swiss watch industry back in 1983, we were determined to live up to the glories of the Ulysse Nardin name. To do this, we faced the task of preserving a tradition of the finest craftsmanship while augmenting these achievements with today’s technology.

Fendi

FENDI TIMEPIECES | Crazy Carats

In its Italian workshops, Fendi takes fur towards peaks that have not been explored for almost a century. Bearing testimony to this longstanding tradition, the new Crazy Carats watch is fitted with a precious strap in two-tone mink, while the watch itself features a number of sparkling surprises. A turn of the crown reveals three different types of gemstones according to the mood of the moment. White diamonds or blue or pink sapphires alternately light up this luxurious composition, underscored by fascinating gemsetting on the bezel. The mysterious and enchanting Crazy Carats comes in four different versions, each available in a 50-piece limited series.

ENICAR

ENICAR | Versailles CH325 Chronometer

Inspired by the gardens at the renowned French château, the Versailles watch will work its magic on those with an eye for refinement and beauty. On this jewel of sophistication, each element is composed with exquisite art. The centre of the dial is adorned with a delicate motif while ten sparkling diamonds denote the hours around its circumference. The bezel, which is crafted from 18K rose gold, cradles the 96 diamonds that illuminate the whole, interspersed with eight other precious stones to create a fascinating effect. Precious and unique in each of its facets, the Versailles watch is brought to life by a COSC-certified automatic chronometer movement. An interchangeable bracelet adapts to different moods, with two-tone 18K rose gold / 316 L steel or leather.  Learn more about ENICAR.

GENIE

GENIE | Grandor

Since 1919, Genie has swathed time in the most elegant simplicity. Its new collection is no exception to this rule. Framed by the clean lines of a two-tone case, the dial displays nothing but time's essential components, with three hands and a date set against a sober backdrop interpreting the brand's bell logo. Eight white diamond hour-markers stand out against this radiant yellow composition to echo the Roman numerals that bring an air of timeless classicism. Beating inside this opus is a mechanical automatic movement which reveals the delicacy of its gears beneath a sapphire crystal back.

Ronda

RONDA | xtratech Z60 - new 13¼‘‘‘ chronograph

Ronda xtratech was market launched as a new product line in 2013. The quartz movement presented at Baselworld is known as Z60. It is the first-ever Ronda 13¼’’’ size calibre with chrono function. Aside from the centre second stop and the 30-minute counter, the popular 3-6-9 look features a day indicator, a date and a small seconds. With the xtratech the name says it all: a Swiss Made movement offering everything a chronograph needs. Not a feature more and not a feature less. The ideal product for watches in the fashion range, where demand runs high for useful functions at attractive prices. With the new diameter of 30.00 mm, Ronda now has on offer four chronograph sizes in its range: Startech 3500 series with 10½ x 11½‘‘‘ and Startech 5000 with 12½‘‘‘. And, last but not least, the Mastertech 8000 series with 15’’’ and the new xtratech Z60 with 13¼‘‘‘.

RONDA is a world leader in the manufacture of highly accurate quartz movements with eye-catching designs - particularly worth mentioning are the successful Mastertech and Startech lines. Famous watch manufacturers in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the USA number among its customers and its products can be found inside brand name watches, ranging from elegant and sporty timepieces to stylish fashion accessories and luxurious models. Founded in 1946, this traditional Swiss firm has its roots in the countryside around Basel, where its headquarters are still located today. Currently, over 2000 staff are employed in Switzerland and Asia.

N.O.A Watches

N.O.A | Steel Skell

N.O.A. exposes the mechanics of time by revealing the beating heart of its latest creation, Skell. This automatic calibre with its highly architectural skeleton-working features colourful elements that further highlight the three-dimensional N.O.A signature. A wealth of subtle depth and transparency effects ensure that nothing is hidden and that each second becomes truly unique.

A perfect blend of Italian design and Swiss craftsmanship, the quest for innovation is a part of the Brand’s own DNA. Based in Balerna, Switzerland, where the Ruefli family began their watch making tradition during the 19th Century, today N.O.A is still carrying on the heritage of the family and rapidly becoming a trend setter in the world of Swiss independent brands.

Atlantic

ATLANTIC | Worldmaster 1888 Lusso

The new Worldmaster 1888 with its classic lines offers an extremely elegant composition playing on cleverly orchestrated contrasts between steel and numerous (PVD-coated) pink gold accents. Issued in an 188-piece limited series, a nod to the founding year of the watchmaking House, this chronograph will appeal to fans of timepieces capable of making their way through the years while maintaining a resolutely on-trend touch.

In 1888, in the Solothurn town of Bettlach, Edward Kummer laid the basis of a company, which was one day to become Atlantic Watch. Some years later the company was already employing over 700 people and has left a strong mark on the history of watchmaking in the 20th century. Since 2008, Atlantic has been based in the Bernese town of Lengnau/Longeau. The Atlantic Brands came into being in 1888 under the name of Ed. Kummer AG, Bettlach, abbreviated to EKB. At that time aged 43, the master watchmaker had identified the huge potential for growth offered by the manufacture of watch movements and components. Six years later, he and his partners had already set up the company called Obrecht & Co. established in Grenchen, which specialized in the production of movement-blanks. However, the authorities of Bettlach, his commune of origin, persuaded him to transfer his activities to his place of birth, in order to contribute to its development. These projects were favourably received by the inhabitants of Bettlach, so that production was able to start in 1888 in the new and imposing production site, which had just sprung up from nothing.

Thanks to his rare business skills, Eduard Kummer quickly ensured the prosperity of his business. In a few years, the number of employees increased spectacularly, from around 20 to over 700 at the beginning of the 20th century, only two decades after the company’s foundation. Until the end of the 1920s, the manufacture of watchmaking calibres and components remained the company’s basic activity. Nevertheless, the name EKB soon found its way onto pocket watches, and in a second phase, onto the dials of wrist watches.  Learn more about Atlantic watch company.
