A few of the benefits of Merino wool used in clothing.
Merino fibers are alkaline. The bacteria from sweat that causes clothing to smell is acidic in makeup. Acidic bacteria is chemically drawn to the alkaline Merino fibers, leaving skin less prone to the build up of body odor.
A breathable garment is critical to its function. Merino fibers are extremely effective at moving large quantities of moisture vapor away from the body before they turn into sweat. As moisture vapor is drawn away from skin, it is able to evaporate into the air, leaving you much drier.
Merino wool comes from Merino sheep. Once each year sheep are shorn for their fleece. The fleece is then separated, graded and taken to market for mills to buy in order to produce a variety of products, including their CIVIC line. Not all of the fleece makes it to market however, some falls by the wayside. As the Merino fibers break down in the soil they release valuable nutrients like Nitrogen, a crucial element for soil health. Even when left behind Merino continues to be of benefit.
This is just a few of the many benefits of merino wool.
